No one knows what you're feeling,
Broken but inside your healing.
But life skips along and sees the progress you've made,
And decides to rip off your band-aid.
They apologized sincerely, but the damage was done,
So here's a life lesson, in case I taught you none.♡Go in your kitchen, pick up up a drinking glass.♡
♡Fill it with water and drink it.♡
♡Now throw the glass on the ground.♡
♡Did it break? Yes, yes it did♡
♡Now say sorry it it.♡
♡Did it go back to how it was....♡Now I'm sure you understand
They will drink your water; taking your love, your trust, your honesty, pleasure, comfort, all that makes you you.
But eventually, they'll hurt you.
You might get soiled, you might get chipped, sometimes cracked, sometimes broken and ultimately - shattered. They'll apologize, tell you they're sorry, they didn't mean it, it will never happen again and my favorite one - I love you.
But no matter how many times they apologize, even if they didn't mean it, trusting that it will never happen again, they could love you to the moon and back -The damage was done and you'll never be the same again.
Let's say you moved on and found someone new, or even better, You started working on you.
Picked up the pieces glued yourself together, rebuilding yourself from the hurt and shame. But those cracks will never be truly united, you will never be the same.
Filled now with water, it slowly seeps through the cracks,
Unconditional love, genuine trust and commitment you now ultimately lack. And that will build your foundation going forward, a foundation of self worth,
That allows you to know your value, and will not be hurt. But to uplift yourself from the bare minimum and patch up those cracks,
Where saying I love you is their opinion and you already know facts. As you have figured by now, I'm sorry, it will never happen again, I didn't mean it and my favorite - I love you, holds no true power,
Unless backed by actions that surmount the highest towers. So you may be soiled, chipped, cracked or broken but never allow yourself to be shattered,
For nothing they could say will ever bring you together when you're already scattered.~Tremar Ivey~
