Thanks again for 5k reads, I've never gotten that many views on an original story before.

This is a long one so be prepared to read it all.

I sat still dazed at one of the tables, repeating Fed's words in my head as the cafeteria became more empty by the minute. Everyone seemed to had gotten over it so fast, continuing to feast and conversate with each other only a few moments after it had happened. Before I knew it it was entirely empty. Sprinklekit had finally closed the cafe after a few long painful hours. They eventually came and sat next to me after tidying up, a relived sigh accompanying them as they leaned against me and snapped me from my trance.

"I don't think I've ever been so tired before!" They exclaimed. I rested a paw on their head and looked down at them in a bit of shock. That's the first time I've ever heard them admit they were tired after working 16 hours a day.

"Is that really a surprise?" I asked. Of course they nodded, denying the fact that being tired was normal at all. They were always so dedicated to working at the cafeteria, even though they gained nothing out of it. I was never as confident about working here as they were, even before I started a new diet.

"So uhhh, what was Fed so cranky about?" They asked, I had almost forgotten that we were the only two that weren't informed directly about Shade's death. I was a bit uncertain about telling Sprinkle about it, they were never worried enough to put us into quarantine after the on going disappearances and deaths. I was mainly unsure about how I was going to explain it at all.

"Let's just say... Something HAPPENED to Shade.." I said quietly, fearing if they had heard me or not. Sprinklekit's ears almost instantly pinned against their head. They were shocked of course, but I couldn't quite read their facial expression. It was just plain shock..

"Oh..." They responded, looking down while still laying on my arm. I had only just noticed that they had their arms wrapped around it aswell, how was I so oblivious to my surroundings? I felt bad for telling them about what happened, hell. I felt bad for doing it in the first place.

"I'm sorry." I mumbled. Wait, why? I wanted to apologize for them but it'd be obvious they wouldn't know what for... I just wish they did. I wish we were able to properly communicate again, there's so much tension between us every time we try.

"Sorry? For what? It's not your fault. They said in an attempt to reassure me. If only you knew what I was going through right now, you'd probably lose your mind. I uncomfortably shifted in Sprinklekit's arms, I was literally ratting my self out without any context. If I say one more stupid thing they might figure it out for themselves.

"It's nothing, I just felt the need to apologize to you.." I say. That was pretty stupid! Great job Mochi. Sprinkle's just looked up at me again, this time with a small smile.

"Well you should! You didn't help me around the cafe at all!" They said. I was kind of surprised in the change of attitude, I just told them somebody died and they brushed it off like it was nothing. I guess that was a good thing in my point of view, it just wasn't what I expected even though they had done this many times in the past. They did it with both Feizao and Fashui. Why was this so brand new to me? I wrapped a single arm around them and gave them a tight squeeze, trying to relive my self from the sudden atmosphere that deprived me of a valid response. They just looked confused again.

"Are you alright? That was pretty sudden." They asked. I slightly panicked, I was trying my best not to use their body as a stress toy and tear their arm in half. It wasn't much of a help when they were sitting right next to me, expecting a reply. I gave them a fake smile.

"I'm fine! Just give me a sec.." I said, pulling my arm away from them and standing up. Sprinklekit was quick to stop me by grabbing my wrist and tugging it slightly.
