Chapter 7 - A New Witness

Grady

Grady wanted to know more about Barbara Ross' death. He learns that Barbara was a professor at the University of Cambridge. Grady calls Barbara's sister Pam. "Hello, this is Grady Mills, I am investigating George Rollin's murder. I was doing research on George Rollin's murder when I came across an article about your sister Barbara Ross' murder," Grady replied. "Yes, the police didn't do a good job investigating my sister's death. The police were just too eager to believe it was a suicide. My sister was not suicidal. Barbara was a happy woman and she had no reason to take her own life," Pam replied.

"I know the police did not do a good job investigating your sister's death. A reporter named Rick Storm wrote an article saying that the police just rushed into ruling your sister's death a suicide without looking at the evidence," Grady replied. "I guess you haven't heard. Rick was killed in a car accident, but I don't believe that it was an accident. I think Rick was murdered," Pam replied. "Rick told me that he had some information about my sister's death, but he could not tell me over the phone,

"Rick was killed before I got a chance to talk to him. The police were saying that Rick had been drinking. I did not believe Rick had been drinking. Rick was against drinking and driving due to his mother being killed by a drunk driver," Pam explained. "My dad Hank Mills knew Rick Storm. He taught a class in New York and Rick was one of his students. My dad had a lot of good things to say about Rick. How well did you know Rick?" Grady asks. "I didn't know him that well. Rick heard me talking to the police about my sister's death and he wanted to help," Pam explained.

"Did Barbara have any enemies?" Grady asks. "No, everyone that knew Barbara loved her. Barbara was a great teacher and all her students love her. The male students were in love with her," Pam replied. "Did your sister have problems with her husband?" Grady asks. "Barbara and her husband had problems due to him working too much," Pam replied. "Do you think your brother-in-law killed your sister?" Grady asks. "No, Steve loved her and he would never harm her," Pam replied.

"I do know that my sister was acting weird. Every time Barbara's phone rang she became scared," Pam replied. "Did you check her phone to see who has been calling her?" Grady asks. "I could not find her phone," Pam replied. "What about phone records?" Grady asks. "Someone deleted the phone records," Pam replied. "What about your sister's computer?" Grady asks. "I could not find her computer. Barbara's diary was missing too," Pam replied. Grady calls his dad. Grady told his dad about Barbara Ross' death and how the police ruled her death a suicide.

Grady also told his dad about Rick Storm's car accident and the police believe he was drinking and driving. "I do not think Rick was drinking and driving. I know Rick's dad. Rick and his dad have always been against drinking and driving. Grady, I want you to be careful. I think the police are protecting someone. If the police find out you are investigating Barbara Ross' death they might kill you too," Hank warned Grady. "Don't worry I'll make sure to be careful," Grady assures Hank.
