Chapter 8 - The Hidden Evidence
Grady
"I am going to call a friend of mine named John Hagarty. John works for the FBI. I will ask him to help you," Hank replied. "Thank you, dad," Grady replied. Grady went to the university where Barbara worked. Pam told Grady that Barbara had a lot of friends at the college. Pam also told Grady that Barbara had a friend named Stacey Anderson. Grady went to see Stacey. "Hello, my name is Grady Mills. I have been helping Pam investigate her sister Barbara Ross' death," he replied. "I know Pam took Barbara's death hard. I don't believe Barbara would kill herself. I mean, I tried so hard to tell them this but they just wouldn't listen," Stacey replied.
"Was anyone giving Barbara a hard time?" Grady asks. "Barbara was having an affair with one of her students named Alex Dashwood. When she stopped seeing Alex he started stalking her," Stacey replied. "Did Barbara try to go to the police?" Grady asks. "I tried to get her to go to the police, but she was scared her husband would leave her if he found out about the affair," Stacey explained. "Do you know Alex Dashwood's brother Adam?" Grady asks. "Adam was in my writing class, but I can't say that I know him well, other than the fact that he's in a coma if I remember correctly," Stacey replied.
John calls Grady. "A woman named Barbara Ross was having an affair with Adam's brother Alex Dashwood. Barbara was killed and the police ruled it a suicide," Grady explained. "Did you also know that Alex is in a mental hospital?" John asks. "No, I didn't ," Grady replied. "Alex and Adam's uncle Jeremy Dashwood have been protecting them since they were kids. Alex stabbed a girl in high school and Jeremy paid the girl's family not to press charges. Jeremy owns the police," John replied. "What is the girl's name?" Grady asks. "Rachel Lee Baldwin," John replied. "Thank you," Grady replied.
Grady calls Willow and he tells her about Barbara Ross' affair with Alex Dashwood. Grady also told Willow that Alex stabbed a girl named Rachel Lee Baldwin in high school. "When did Alex get put in a mental hospital?" Willow asks. "A month after Barbara's death, I believe," Grady replied. Grady was not going to tell Pam about her sister's affair with Alex until he could get proof that Alex had murdered Barbara.
I knew right away that one of Adam's family members might have something to do with George Rollin's death, but I have to look at other suspects. I told Christopher what Grady told me. "We can go to the judge and request an appeal for Dana's case," Christopher replied. "We still don't have enough evidence. George had a lot of enemies, so we need to investigate them. So far, we know that Alex and Adam did not kill George Rollin. Adam is in a coma and Alex is in a mental hospital," Willow replied.
"We have to be careful. A reporter named Rick Storm was killed when he started investigating Barbara Ross' death," Willow warns. "I understand you are scared, but I am not going to let my sister-in-law spend the rest of her life in prison for a crime she did not commit!" Christopher replied angrily. "I'm not saying we should give up, all I'm saying is that we have to tread carefully with this. Someone is paying the police to frame Dana and they paid someone to kill Rick Storm!" Willow replied. "I'm sorry. I just want to get my sister-in-law out of prison!" Christopher replied sadly. "We're going to prove Dana is innocent!" Willow assures Christopher.
