Chapter 9 - A Second Witness
Willow
I want to prove Dana is innocent too, but I did not know how we were going to do it. I thought about going to England to visit Alex in the mental hospital. I told Christopher that I was going to visit Alex Dashwood. "What?! ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?! Alex stabbed his girlfriend and is implicated in the killing of Barbara Ross. What if Alex gets out of the mental hospital?! Alex could come after you!" Christopher replied. "I seriously doubt that is going to happen. I am a lot older than him after all," I replied laughing.
"Barbara Ross was a lot older than Alex too!" Christopher replied angrily. "I'll be careful!" I replied in defense. "But I have to talk to him. Alex might know something about George Ross' murderer," I called my dad and I told him that I was going to England to visit Alex. "Willow, I want you to be careful. Alex is a very dangerous man," Hank pleaded. "I will, I promise. Christopher gave me the same lecture," I replied. "I want Grady to go with you. Do not, under any circumstances, give Alex your real name," Hank suggests. "I won't," I assured my dad.
The next day, I took the first plane to England. Grady was waiting for me at the airport. I was tired and I checked into the same hotel that Grady was staying at. The hotel was big. My dad was paying for my room. I went to have dinner with Grady and John. I called Christopher and my dad to let them know I was doing ok. I knew Alex was an actor. I knew an actor named Charles Evans. I was going to call Charles tomorrow.
I woke up the next day and I had breakfast in my room and called Charles. "Hello, Charles, this is Willow Mills. I was just calling to ask you if you knew an actor named Alex Dashwood," I question. "Yes, we worked on a movie together, but I didn't know him that well. The director, Howard Rowley, knew Alex pretty well. Why do you ask?" Charles asks. "I'm helping Christopher Singer investigate his sister-in-law Dana Rollin's husband's murder. Dana was falsely accused of her husband's murder. Dana told us that she was having an affair with Alex's brother Adam. We think maybe a member of Alex and Adam's family might have killed George to frame Dana," I replied.
"We can't say for sure who killed George and we're looking for other suspects. We do know however, that Alex was also having an affair with Barbara Ross and she was killed and her death was ruled as a suicide," I replied. "Do you think that Alex might have killed Barbara Ross?" Charles asks. "I don't know really, Alex did start stalking Barbara after she stopped seeing him and he did stab a girl in high school," I replied. "I can talk to Howard to see what he knows about Alex," Charles offered. "Thank you," I replied.
Charles
Charles went to talk to Howard. "Hello, how well do you know Alex and Adam Dashwood?" Charles asks. "I don't know Adam that well, but I am good friends with Alex. Alex had a lot of problems after his father committed suicide. He was always a guy who liked chasing after older women. On the set of the film we were making at the time, he was going after our leading actress, Molly Greenwood, who's fifteen years his senior. When he tried to make a pass at her, she refused him, telling him that she was only into men her age, but Alex kept bothering her, so she asked me to talk to him," Howard explained.
"So I talked to him and he eventually stopped bothering her. Then, a year after we finished production, Molly was attacked in her home, and she told the police that she believed Alex was the perpetrator, but the police didn't have enough evidence to make an arrest," Howard finished explaining. "Do you have Molly's address?" Charles asks. "Yes, I do," Howard replied, giving Charles her address.
