Chapter 12 - The Bad Witness
Christopher
"I do know one of the witnesses that testified against Dana. The witness's name was Jeff Black. Jeff's an alcoholic. The night George was murdered Jeff was drinking a lot, so he wasn't a reliable witness. My husband and I saw Jeff being arrested for driving under the influence. Jeff claims that he heard Dana and George fighting hours before George was murdered. I don't believe that because Jeff was in jail that night," Reba replied. "Did you tell Dana's lawyer?" Christopher asks. "Yes, I did, but he said we could not use that because there was no record of Jeff being arrested," Reba explained.
Christopher finished talking to Reba and he went to look for Dana's former lawyer Danny Miller. "Why did you not question Jeff Black about his arrest on the night George was murdered?!" Christopher asks. "There was no record showing that Jeff was arrested that night. I believe Reba, but we did not have proof that Jeff was arrested that night. I cannot ask Jeff about the arrest without any evidence. I did a background check on Jeff Black, but he didn't have a criminal record," Danny replied. Christopher wonders if Jeff was paid to lie on the witness stand.
Charles
Charles is already in California. Martin was waiting for him. "Are you Charles Evans?" Martin asks. "Yes, I am," Charles replied. Martin allows Charles to stay in his house. Charles and Martin went to see Sean. "Hello, Sean, this is Charles Evans," Martin introduces Charles to Sean. "I heard about you, Mr. Evans. I am a fan of your movies. What can I do for you?" Sean asks. "I'm helping my friend Willow Mills and her dad's student Christopher Singer prove that a woman named Dana Rollin did not kill her husband. Dana told Christopher that she was having an affair with your cousin Adam. Also, your cousin Alex was having an affair with his college teacher Barbara Ross.
Barbara was found dead by her sister Pam Brooks. The police think Barbara committed suicide, but Pam thinks her sister was murdered," Charles replied. "Do you think my cousins killed Barbara and Dana's husband?" Sean asks. "Well, not necessarily, but I do suspect that Alex might have something to do with Barbara's death. I also know that Alex stabbed a girl named Rachel Lee Baldwin in high school," Charles replied. "I remember Rachel Lee. My dad paid for her hospital bill. People started making rumors that my dad paid the police and Rachel Lee's parents not to press charges," Sean replied.
"Do you think your dad paid the police and Rachel's parents?" Charles asks. "I couldn't say. My dad and I never got along. I also never got along well with Alex and Adam. That's why I moved here to get away from my dad and my cousins," Sean replied. "Do you think your cousins are capable of committing murder?" Charles asks. "I don't know," Sean replied.
