The silence between the two wasn't uncomfortable, more... delicate. Like a piece of glass that could shatter at any moment. Rose was afraid that if she spoke, said one wrong word or maybe looked at her brother with sympathy one time too many, Klaus would shatter.

She wasn't used to his silence or his fragility. Klaus had always been the loud one, the one who spoke up when she was afraid to. The one who voiced his opinion no matter the circumstances. But now he was silent, and she had no idea what to do with that.

Rose's eyes drifted out of the window she was leant against in the back of the car to observe Diego. She watched as he crouched on the ground, scuttling across the car park so he could carry out his 'genius' idea of placing a tracker under the enemy's car.

"Hey." Klaus's voice disrupted their silence, scaring the shit out of Rose. "Are you okay?"

"What-I-who-what?" She practically yelled, half out of fear and half out of confusion. Klaus's eyebrows furrowed deeper with uncertainty as she stuttered. "Am I okay? Klaus you- you're the one who's been through..." She trailed off and then shook her head, as if to restart. "Are you okay?"

"What? Me? Yeah of course I'm fine. I'm always fine." He replied immediately, swiftly followed by a swig from his bottle.

"But you-"

"I'm okay. Promise." He nodded in reassurance.

Before she could reply, Diego swung the door open and threw himself into his seat again, blissfully unaware of the twins' conversation.

"Bingo." He whispered and Rose leant foward into the front seat to get a look at their male captor as he walked back into his motel room.

"Fucker."

"You know that killing these people is not gonna make you feel any better." Klaus told Diego matter-of-factly, taking a long swig from his bottle.

"Yeah, but when it's done..." Diego spoke, "I'm gonna sleep like a baby."

"Sure you will." She rolled her eyes, leaning back into her chair.

The trio watched carefully as Hazel stalked out of the motel room, carrying a bucket of ice down the hallway. Knowing exactly what Diego was about to do, Rose leant over to open her car door but stopped when he spoke.
