'The White Violin'

Leaving the academy was proving to be more difficult than anticipated. The twins and Allison had crept into the hallway only to crash into Pogo, Diego and Luther and have their suspicions confirmed that Vanya was infact responsible for all the commotion. Pogo Had instructed them to leave the academy and find safety as quickly as possible.

Rose and Allison both refused to speak to Luther and he had done a good job at avoiding their glares until Pogo suggested they leave, at which point he decided to play protector and forced Allison to go with him. Much to Rose's disappointment.

That had lead to Rose, Klaus and Diego attempting to escape the academy with their lives. Well that was until Diego demanded they find their mother. Rose wasn't heartless, she loved her mother tremendously. More that she let on. But the academy's structural integrity was becoming more precarious as the seconds went by and if they didn't get out soon they would all be dead. They couldn't save her if they died with her.

"Where is she?" Diego yelled to the twins as they all bolted around the balcony and the walkway where their mother loved to sit.

"Mom!" They screamed again and agian but there was no answer.

Rose clasped Klaus's hand in her left and Diego's in her right and began to make a run for it. The contrast between the boys was striking as Klaus reciprocated her grip with his own panic and Diego fought against it with his desperation to locate their mother. He called for her with every step they took across the walkway and if his hope began to falter he did not show it.

"Mom?"

"Mom!"

Still nothing.

When they finally made their way across the balcony, it became imperative that they had to leave now. The ceiling was literally crumbling above them and the floor was cracking beneath them. Rose loved her mother, she really did. But she was a robot, surely they could just... rebuild her? Whatever they could do she knew it was a better option than dying right here and right now. She couldn't let Klaus die. She wouldn't.

"We need to leave." Rose told them frantically. Diego snatched his hand from her grip and lifted up a finger to argue with her. He didn't have a chance to utter his complaints before the ground shook so violently that it sent all three of them tumbling to the ground.

Not one of the trio dared move an inch. Their equal horror left them glued to the floor, paralysed. The floor groaned again as the entire building shook.

They needed to get up.

But they didn't. If they moved to quickly it was possible the floor would give out beneath them and they would fall to their death. On the contrary if they didn't move quickly the ceiling would most likely collapse straight on top of them and crush them to death. Brilliant.
