The Calm Before The Storm

'I Heard A Rumor'

Concern coursed through Rose's veins like a drug. First, and most importantly, the concern she felt for her youngest brother as she watched him sleep in the medical room of their childhood home. She traced the bright white bandage wrapped tightly around his waist with her thumb as she watched his chest rise and fall evenly with each breath he took. He would be fine, she knew that. But that didn't stop the distress that Rose felt.
Secondly, she was becoming increasingly worried about Vanya. They had just discovered that her new boyfriend, or whoever he was to her, was not only lying about his identity, had killed his father and had a secret serial killer attic dedicated to their entire family, but - according to Five - he was also their number one culprit for the end of the world. To top that off, Allison had told her and Diego that Vanya failed to attend her lesson at her music school, something she valued very highly, which made Rose immediately jump to conclusions of something bad happening to her.
And finally, Rose had absolutely no idea where Klaus was. As harsh as it sounded, he was the least of her worries right now but that didn't mean that she wasn't concerned. To be honest, she assumed he had just wandered off down some back alley and he'd be back by tomorrow morning. However, Ben's disappearance did make her question it.
Despite her best efforts to keep her eyes open, Rose could feel the drowsiness overcome her and her eyelids began to close slowly. It had been a few days since the twins' kidnapping and she had had at least one full night's rest, but as usual it was disturbed and plagued by nightmares, prolonging her exhaustion. The extreme nerves and worry she felt constantly around her family did not help whatsoever.
She readjusted gently to not wake Five from his makeshift coma, draping an arm across his waist and resting her cheek against the mattress. It wasn't long before she drifted into what she hoped would be a peaceful sleep for once.

Cold.
That's all Rose could think about as she lay curled up in a ball on the cold floor of the mausoleum basement. Dark and freezing. She had no idea how long she had been there, drifting in and out of consciousness. She had been shot at least twice, she could remember the pain she felt as she bled out over the concrete floor and the blood curdling screams which erupted from her when she collapsed to the ground.
"Rose." A voice whispered from the darkness and she couldn't help but whimper in fear.
Of course the ghosts had been bothering her all night. More than usual because of her spot in the mausoleum and because she had already died twice.
