(Warning: more Thanos manipulation to Loki. Descriptive, but not gory to any considerable degree. Thanks for reading!)
(Your Pov)
You never found the strength to escape, let alone save him. Every day more you regretted it, but you could barely find the energy to eat, rushing to the rescue becoming an impossible thing. In the few times he woke, Loki answered what questions he could. Thanos was his torturer, he fell into the void, and he didn't know when it would end. Only that the madman wanted him to kill thousands.
Loki wouldn't accept it. He apologized over and over again for his actions in Asgard, explaining how even then he wasn't himself. Not fully. Yes he wanted vengeance, but in a mischievous way. Not 'kill everybody'. That was Thanos and his manipulation talking.
He also wished he hadn't ignored you. Because when you stopped talking to him... he started losing hope for himself. So when he was in the void, and found no more energy to keep himself up, you told him every and any story you could think of. Of Asgard, of Midgard, of magic, or animals, of life, and of happiness. You even resorted to a few fantasies of your own. Of if you ever met, or had a chance of a future together, or... anything else that came to mind.
He quite liked those.
"Y/N." Fury visited you one evening, as you laid in your cell. Loki was asleep, as he should be. You offered what courage and kindness you could, but in the end you knew it wouldn't last.
Fury checked in occasionally, during breaks between his duties. Your cell wasn't overly secure, most likely as a result of your 'good behavior'. You just hadn't tried to escape. Curling into a ball of tears when you heard the pain Loki had to go through.
It's worse now. So much worse. He had to endure heat and flames that burned worse with his heritage. Dealing with misshapen memories as Thanos tried to unravel him. It must've been months now.
"Yes, Fury?" You sigh, tired after the day. The Director thought you were on Loki's side ever since you said his name, and somehow he was the cause of your pain. He didn't believe in soulmates, as did many of the mortals. Instead blaming 'the delinquent brother of Thor's' for both your agony and loss of energy.
Maybe he pitied you. You supposed it was better than hatred. You only wished that Nick thought better of your soulmate. "Is it over?"
You laugh dryly, knocking your head against the wall behind you to rest. "For today, I think."
"Good. Feel like answering any questions?"
Questions? At this hour? "Not in the slightest." Most revolved around your relationship with Loki, and all the details of your pain. You allowed him to think such things, since it was psychological just as much as Loki felt physically.
"Anything I should know?" You glance over lazily, noting the tray of dessert he had brought with him.
Chocolate cake. The best invention since seasoned bread.
Was this a bribe? You desperately hoped so, though you wouldn't say much else. You weren't admitting you had a soulmate, preferring to stick to whatever 'schizophrenia' was. It was what the human doctors deducted from your symptoms.
"Not that comes to mind." You shrug, as a shuffling could be heard. You stiffen, thinking that such things would have been over. Loki was exhausted, what more could Thanos do to him? He could barely think straight. You glance to Fury with fear in your eyes, a sign that this isn't yet over.
"Again?" He sighed, leaving the cake for when you were ready. Perhaps it was more of a condolence. But the Director left the room, leaving you to your privacy. You couldn't respond or even be aware of your surroundings when you were in such a state. Lost to the life of your other half.
"What's happening?" You whisper, willing for Loki to answer you. Even just a little mumble to tell you of what you couldn't see. "Are you leaving?"
" 's dark." He whispered, and you knew he couldn't hold on much longer. What happens if one soulmate dies? Would you?
No. Positive thoughts.
Loki couldn't die. Not today. Not now. Not before you've seen the magics he spoke so highly of. Or his sharp green eyes that made him stand out, or his dark mane that drove him to the brink of madness every morning to brush the tangles out of. Not before you could live the life the two of you planned endlessly.
Not before you could call him yours.
"Are you being moved?" You could hear the ruffle of whatever rags of his clothes were left, as something moved his body along. You tried to urge him to gain consciousness, but Loki was exhausted. You were exhausted. There was only so much that could be done.
Loki mumbled a tad, muttering a weak yes. Continuing to try and focus on what was happening. "It's not the same place."
What?
"It's new." Oh no. New with Thanos was always worse than before. "Y-Y/N, I... I can't..." he couldn't take any more. He already once tried to agree to the titan's wishes, but such a ploy was easily seen through. His chances to buy his way out of this hell were long spent. "Stay with me."
"Loki, I'm going to be right here." You whisper, voice breaking. "Right here. I'll stay, I promise."
But he didn't.
Loki faced Thanos for the final time, exhausted and on his knees. The scepter was forced against his chest, as his mind crumbled from its power. He tried to describe the events the best he could to you, but in the end you were still lost.
But you knew Loki was gone. The voice that pledged allegiance to Thanos and his army couldn't hear you. The voice that swore to burn Midgard didn't listen to your pleas that it was your home.
Loki was broken and replaced with the will of a monster.
"Loki, wake up. Listen to me!" You whisper, as he didn't respond. You heard his plans to attack and conquer this world in a matter of days. He wasn't himself, but he still needed to be stopped. Earth was your home, for all that they hated you.
It was a desperate plea, but there was little else you could do. You were the only one with any idea of what was to come. And if Loki couldn't hear you... "Fury!" Your fists meet the glass, as you try to gain anyone's attention. "Fury! Get back here! He's going to..."
"Don't do this, Y/N." Loki. But not yours. Not the soft, kind Loki that loved to flirt and make you a stuttering mess. No, his voice dripped with malice as he played with your mind. He paused, and you knew Thanos was speaking to him. "She has heard everything of our plans."
"Fury!" You scream again, not knowing if anyone could hear you. Was Shield watching you now? Could you just explain everything you've heard, and Fury could rewatch the tapes later? "He's going to attack Earth! He's..."
A wave of magic hit your senses, coating your mind with the power. You were already weak as it was, without any way to protect yourself. Loki's enchantment ravaged your connection, taking over your mind in a way you didn't know was possible between you. It made you fall to your knees, eyes glaze over, as your consciousness was taken.
Yet for all his evil, you awoke in your favorite memory.
