(Your Pov)
"Y/N?" A voice chimed in, one so familiar yet at this moment just as annoying. Didn't you already have a conversation with him about keeping quiet until even the sun was up? "Y/N, wake up darling."
Really? You huff from exhaustion, covering your head with the end of the blankets that smothered you. "Loki, I am trying to sleep." You heard him laugh as his clothes crinkled from sitting. Well, you imagined him sitting.
"But sleeping is so boring." Oh? Well, sleep is also your best friend. He could wait a few hours to talk- "We have plans today."
"Plans?" What did he mean by plans? All you could do is talk with your soulmate, there was no way to make plans. Of course, in your annoyance at being woken, you forgot about the difference of today. "It's way too early for any plans."
"Is that so?" You could hear a smirk carry on his words, a touch softer than when he normally teased you. He knew something. "Then I think you should check the time. Don't you know what today is?"
Today isn't even here yet. You flop on your back, willing for your eyes to open even the smallest bit. Today? You were in the Avengers' medical ward, and today was...
Today is your first day free.
"It's today!" You bolt upwards, eyes wide and heart pulsing in your ears. You were going to see Loki today. You were going to finally be able to be with him. To meet him properly. You heard a small laugh from his side of the connection, and glanced toward the clock hanging above the door. "But Loki, it's 6 fucking AM."
Your heart beat faster when you heard his laugh. He always sounded so close, yet your nerves shook as if he was even closer this time. "You know, I think that clock is a bit off. Maybe 6:01." That clock? Who is he to disrespect a clock he couldn't see? But you shrug off his words. And as he talked, you stretched out your neck a tad.
The Avengers had done their best to give you adequate furniture, but a cot was still a cot. You couldn't wait to be in your own room. You sure as hell wouldn't miss this place. "That doesn't change my-"
You had been glancing around the room as you spoke. Taking in this place for the final time. Loki said yesterday that he found the room, but quite frankly, you didn't think he did. The Avengers were very careful about your location, despite how they constantly underestimated him.
Until you catch the eyes of a man sitting beside your bed, his emerald pools shining with a glow all their own. His normal mess of raven dark hair slicked back nicely, to match his ever so charming jeans and black dress shirt. Making you feel quite underdressed in your pj's.
But you couldn't mistake his mischievous smile, or the love that had taken over his soul so completely. "Loki?"
He grinned in a way that electrified your soul. "Hello, Love."
Loki was here.
Loki's in the same room as you.
You were seeing your soulmate. Outside of his voice. For the first time.
Everything else melted away. He was here. Loki's here. Holy shit.
Your feet became caught in the sheets as you tried to catapult yourself from the bed, colliding against his chest. Throwing your arms around his neck. "You're here!" His arms held you tight as he caught your falling form. A laugh shared between you. Your bodies fit so perfectly together in the embrace, and it felt as if you finally found what you've been missing. "I can't believe this is real."
"Me either, darling." Loki whispered into your neck. Coveting your body as you didn't dare move away. He was here. Loki, your soulmate, the one you knew so much about, the one you loved so deeply, finally found you. You didn't dare let go.
Yet as much as you tried to hold onto this moment, you found yourself slowly pulling away. You did have plans after all. But when you looked to talk to him, to talk to your soulmate face to face, you found a mischievous smirk playing his lips. "What?"
But with one hand already under your arm, his other swept out your legs. "Hey!"
"I did say I would sweep you off your feet, didn't I?" He smiled, and you couldn't help but play along with these innocent games. Your arms were now around the back of his neck, and you tried to look at his eyes.
Well... you tried. As did he. But your eyes kept traveling down, becoming stuck on the smile of his lips.
And neither could Loki, the words becoming a mess of half questions. "May I... Eheh... Would you care i-if I..."
"Yes, you stuttering mess." You laugh as a purple tint took to Loki's cheeks, a quality that only highlighted the sharpness of his eyes. Loki always flirted and talked dirty over the connection, yet when faced with a simple kiss he could barely ask.
But you loved him all the more for it.
You brought your lips up to meet his, the meeting brief despite the time you've spent apart. A hello kiss, for you knew the two of you had all the time in the world now. But even though it was chaste, it was perfect. It sent a tingle along your spine, the coolness of his lips working only to amplify his every movement. His hands held you tightly, as your arms helped hold you up to kiss your Loki.
Your soulmate.
A hundred years ago- hell, during this entire connection you've shared, you never thought this would be where you met. The freaking Avengers Tower. And you never thought this would be the 'when', either. But it was perfect, and you would have it no other way.
The kiss ended slowly, but the feelings decided to stay. "Where have you been all my life?" Loki teased, finally seeing reason enough to let your feet down. But his arm stayed hooked in yours, and you intertwined your hands. You knew Asgard didn't have the custom, but decided he would appreciate the contact.
He did.
"Here and there." You flash a smile, squeezing his hand. "Are the Avengers going to be pissed that you've stolen me away?"
"I don't see what they can do about it." Loki laughed, as you started heading out. "You are free of surveillance today, and I am perfectly within my rules to escort you on this tour. There is no danger."
"Except the 6am surprise part."
Loki huffed at your logic, as the two of you fell into old habits. Before... you've always felt so close to him. If you closed your eyes, it almost seemed as if he really was right next to you. So to be hand in hand, talking and joking just like you've always done?
It felt like home.
