(Your Pov)
"But how does it work?" A voice asked, snarky for all its carelessness. "And don't say magic."
"A... soulmate bond? I am not the person you should be asking." Another man boomed, chuckling. But the topic of conversation started drawing you out of your slumber, and you stirred. It almost sounded like Thor.
A woman sighed, but you recognised her voice. She was the one who had helped you after Shield. "But every word? Isn't that a bit..."
"Perverted?"
Thor scoffed at such ideas. "I thought so at one point, too. But they are soulmates. They should not be keeping secrets from one another in the first place."
There was silence for a moment, and you urged your body to wake. Your memory was foggy, but you knew this was someplace different. Not in Shield.
"So she knows everything about that bastard?" The snarky voice continued, as Thor became unsettled from his insult. Who knew which bastard? You peeked your eyes open, taking account of as much as possible.
No cuffs. That was what you first noticed. Nothing, even to restrain your magic.
"Hello?" Your voice cracked, as you forced your eyes open to glance around. A medical ward... of sorts. At least like the ones you've seen in movies. You've never been to an actual hospital, being Asgardian and all. The medicines of human doctors tended to lose effect on your alien body. Let alone, you could usually heal minor injuries without a second thought.
The others stopped talking, as you saw their shadows still in the doorway. Before a head peeked through. "You're awake!"
You froze. Maybe Shield changed your drugs, but it seemed like you were staring down Tony Stark. Billionaire, very famous in the mortal world, Tony Stark. You've always marveled at his work as Iron man, but you never thought you would meet the guy. "You're Mister Stark."
"And you know all the dirt on Reindeer Games." He flashed a bright smile, coming further into the room. Joined by a tired Thor, and the redhead agent from earlier. "Just call me Tony, kid." He extended a hand, as you shifted to sit up against the headboard.
"Okay." You laugh to yourself, taking a better look around the room. Moonlight shone through the drapes to your left, as the visitors sat in whatever seats they could find. You figured Loki must be asleep at such an ungodly hour. As long as you were somewhat quiet, he wouldn't wake. "Where am I?" You direct the question to anyone who would answer.
"The Avengers Tower. I'm Natasha, nice to meet you properly." The woman smiled, but almost with a touch of pity. "Y/N, we need to discuss some things with you."
Discuss some things? You look back to Thor and Tony, each of them with a similar expression. "What about?"
"Shield is quite unhappy that we moved you." She explained, "Fury is working to release the charges against you, but for now we have to follow their every little rule."
Every rule? "Which means..."
"Well, for starters, you have to stay on bedrest for the next few days. And two weeks of supervision."
Natasha paused, but so far these things didn't explain the guilty expression on Thor's face. "That's not so bad."
"You are also under house arrest for the foreseeable future. And we are instructed to report the smallest use of magic."
No magic, house arrest- or, technically, tower arrest- and bed rest for the next few days. You ignored the two weeks of supervision for the moment, shrugging it off as a part of your house arrest. There weren't any special requirements it sounded like.
So why was Thor hiding secrets? "What is it, Thor?"
He hesitated, glancing occasionally toward the others. "It... is not a problem right now. I don't think-"
"Just tell me." Enough of these games. One might think you were used to such things with Loki, but the truth is he never dared play such things with you. Not really, not when he was conscious of his actions. If he kept secrets, then so would you. And not knowing every little detail about one's soulmate is sure to drive one mad.
Thor sighed, looking quite put upon. "You are not allowed to see Loki."
What?
What the everloving... You were in the same tower. Loki is your freaking soulmate! You already could hear every word each other said. What was the point of this? Thor knew you've waited so long to see one another, why couldn't he pull some strings to speed up the process? What could Shield ever even hope to gain?
You and Loki are in the same tower. How could they expect you to stay apart forever? When practically living together?
Thor took one look at your face and balked. Surrendering the explanation of stupid mortal rules to one of the actual mortals. Tony took it up, "He's a villain, you're dealing with criminal charges- wrong or right as they are- so if you're with him in any sort of manner, then..." Then you could be accused of even more criminal things. Lies or not.
You wanted to blurt out that Loki's not a villain. But before you could respond, Natasha intervened. "Two weeks under supervision means two weeks without your little boyfriend. We have to be by the book here." She patted your shoulder, starting to herd the others outside. "But feel free to talk as much as you want. Rest for now, we'll be back in the morning."
"Two weeks?" You gape, "What's the difference?" What's the difference between talking with him face to face or through your soulbond? You were still communing with a 'villain', despite how the Avengers had no idea of the truth.
"Goodnight, Y/N. Rest."

(Loki's Pov)
"Two weeks!" Loki shouted, "Two weeks? I've waited nearly a thousand years! You can't do this."
"Actually, they can." Thor crossed his arms, staring down his brother. Shield had Y/N under supervision for another two weeks? Wasn't her moving into the Avengers Tower supposed to end the criminal treatment? "It's two weeks to make sure she adjusts properly. It is my understanding that the more we obey the rules Shield tries to impose upon us, the less of a chance they can take her away again."
Like Loki would ever allow such a thing. Unfortunately in his outburst, the prince had forgotten about the sleeping soulmate in the back of his mind. As she muttered a small 'what the hell are you doing'. It was morning now, and Loki had every intention to visit her.
To finally meet his soulmate. Awake or asleep. No matter her form or condition, whether it would be best to wait another day or not. He's waited too long already. Loki was dying to see her with his own eyes.
Until Thor showed up.
"They do realise this doesn't actually stop us from conversing about any of our 'dastardly plans'?" Loki scoffed, running a hand through his hair. But he was in a similar situation, as any false movements could result in further punishment. Odin had given Thor the power to grant or strip away Loki's magic as seen fit; a cruel irony in his eyes. "Is there any way that our meeting might be postponed any later? Or is two weeks really only two weeks?"
He could last two weeks. They could still talk until then, and it created a day to look forward to. Hel, they've already spent some 700 years apart. But if the 'two weeks' really meant 'two months', and 'two months' became two years, then Loki would have to seek some other way. Thor sucked in his lips, making that damned hesitant face when there was still bad news. "What?"
"As long as nothing goes wrong, yes. Only two weeks."
"What is there to go wrong?"
"Magic." Y/N supplied, waking to be a part of this conversation. "Natasha explained a bunch of rules that I have to follow until all of this blows over."
Loki sighed. Why couldn't Midgard be simple? Either she is free, or she isn't. "I don't like this."
"Nor do I." Thor chuckled, "But what is two weeks to an eternity?"
