(Warning: Between chapters six and eight there are mentions of drugs/inhibitors/intoxicants unspecified. Their use makes Y/N tired and rather 'loopy', a mix between being drunk and tranquilized. Thanks for reading!)

(Loki's Pov)

"I'm... still so sorry, Love." Loki whispered in his cell, now months after his imprisonment. Y/N had taken to talking with him again, after she finally awoke. Turns out even though his spell was gone, her energy wasn't. And it took some time to replenish.

She sighed. "You couldn't control the things happening to you. I hate that you ignored me, but I understand."

Loki hummed in response, staring at the ceiling. He was surprised the connection even still worked in a cell like this. He could use magic as he wished, as long as it remained within the barriers. Which meant no teleporting, illusions, copies, enchantments, or any other spells beyond the room. "I'll make it up to you."

"Oh? You will?"

He smiled at the laugh in her voice. They were both imprisoned on different realms, yet still she found a way to find some hope for joy. "I will. When we meet, I will take you in my arms and make passionate love to you."

"What?!" Loki laughed at her exclamation. "That's- That's not necessary." Y/N stumbled, and Loki imagined how flustered she must be to do so. Normally his soulmate kept herself so composed and ready for anything, as was needed when facing a thousand years of Midgardians. "How about you just... promise you'll find me. Sometime before Shield decides to move me again."

Shield. It was such a pain in the ass for her. While Asgard at least recognised that they kept a prince in their dungeon, Shield didn't care about who or what remained in theirs. Only that she couldn't escape.

Which, when one hasn't learned the proper restraints for magic, leads to whatever means they can find. A variety of intoxicants mixed with her food to keep Y/N from using her powers in any constructive way. Like escaping.

It didn't stop these conversations, though. He could still hear her every word, whether it be clear and concise or a jumble of syllables just after a meal.

"I'll do my best." He sighed, hating how powerless he was behind these walls. What is a master magician without any way to implement his magics?

In his thoughts, Loki missed the footsteps appearing from down the hall. Usually such a visitor was nothing more than a guard bringing a meal, or perhaps some books his mother had sent. But today his gait was familiar, even if this relative hadn't bothered visiting in the months before. Thor knew his brother was kept here. Loki knew he did. He just didn't care.

"Loki." Thor muttered the greeting, as he stopped outside his cell. Loki stood from his bed, looking over curiously. Why now? Why visit after all this time ignoring his existence? What had happened?

He laughed dryly, tucking his hands neatly behind his back. "Thor. After all this time and now you come to visit me. Why? Have you come to gloat? To mock?" He supplied his soulmate as much of an explanation as he could in his words, already trying to make up for keeping her in the dark for the past year.

A whole fucking year. Between his events on Asgard and the beginning of Thanos's manipulation, to the void, to the attack on New York. It was hard to decide upon a set time of wrongs he committed, but a year was a safe place to start.

"Be nice, Lokes." She said in the back of his mind, the only warning before she resigned to simply listening in.

Thor sighed, "No. I have news."

"Oh?" News? "Has Odin finally released me?"

"No, but-"

"Then why should I care?" If it was news of Thor's life, of Asgard, of Midgard, of the Avengers, of the fate of the crown, or even of Odin himself, Loki didn't care. It didn't affect him, and it wouldn't change his situation. Unless it was a beheading. That would change his situation, but even then there was nothing Loki could do about it.

Thor glared at his brother, sending him a pointed look to shut up. He was going out of his way to deliver this news to Loki, so in the thunderer's eyes, he should be grateful. "You are being moved to Midgard."

Oh. "Midgard? Who would decide such a thing?" Surely Thor nor the Allfather were dumb enough to forget how the mortals viewed the dark prince of Asgard. The villain of New York. The one that killed so many of their kind.

"Mother." Thor met Loki's eyes, the real reason revealed. She always knew more than she let on, and in this case, that knowledge was hope. For the prince to find the one who held his heart, and maybe turn away from the destructive path he was set on. Frigga wanted Loki to find Y/N. "She convinced Father that you may serve to make your amends."

"And what of Y/N?" He couldn't help but ask. Even if Frigga wanted something done, it was Odin who decreed it, or Thor who would see it through. And to do something on Loki's behalf?

"You are lucky she is even speaking with you after your actions." Thor snapped, "Rare is the day you will even hear of her name."

So nothing. There would be no searching for a soulmate, no helping her out of the trouble she found herself in. No saving Y/N as he promised.

Thor turned to walk away, his news delivered. But there would never be a time as good as now to tell him. "She's hurting, Thor. She has done nothing but exist, and Shield is still harming her." Thor stopped. Yet even though Loki could hear Y/N mumble how her situation wasn't death-critical any time soon, the prince pushed forward. "I understand that I did things wrong. But she has done nothing. I only ask that you don't let her suffer."

"But you didn't, Loki. It wasn't your fault." Y/N murmured, the effects of her poisoning kicking in. It wouldn't kill her, but she was defenseless and kept in a near constant state of disorientation. Shield could only control her in such a way.

"He wouldn't believe me." Loki spoke through a telepathic connection, keeping a straight face for Thor. Even still, it seemed his brother caught the concern in his voice, or the worry in his eyes. That his love was in pain yet Loki could do nothing to save her.

"Shield helped us defeat you." Thor reasoned, "If you are lying-"

"I'm not. Just... look into their prisoners."
