(Your Pov)

Two weeks.

That's all you had to wait.

Two lousy, endless, boring weeks without your soulmate. It was no different than how you've always been, yet with Loki so close... it felt as if you were missing something. Missing what could have been moments spent together.

Not that you didn't talk. At all hours of the day you would fill each other in on every little detail of what was happening. How Stark designed your room for your stay, how Shield was panicking that you actually did listen to their rules, how your energy was returning. Well, how your energy was lowering, actually. Your body had to learn to regulate itself without the constant presence of the intoxicants. You had to get used to being normal again.

The team spent as much time with you as they could. Games, movies, and of course, the occasional questionnaire. Whether it was what kind of clothes you liked, or how exactly your magic worked. You answered what you knew or could, trying to show good faith. The better they liked you, the more Fury would be on your side. Even though he only had so much pull at Shield. Even Directors had rules to follow. But his input could not go ignored, and he helped your case.

The days passed, and your excitement for your release grew. The Avengers tried to fill every moment of your day with knowledge and know-how you may need, whether it's how to talk to Jarvis or the normal routines around the tower. You met all the members of the team- well, all except Loki.

You were desperately waiting to meet him.

But the two weeks had to pass. You made sure to keep Loki out of any trouble now that you were here, even though Stark had other plans. Namely to bug you for any information about the dark prince that wasn't public knowledge. You responded with only events that were public knowledge, and laughed when Loki informed you of Stark's schemes gone wrong.

Because in the end? You were on Loki's side. He was your soulmate. There are no two ways about it.

By the time the fourteenth day arrived, your last day under 'extreme supervision', the two of you could barely stay separated. As Loki claimed to have found where the Avengers were hiding you. "Are you sure I cannot simply free you now?"

"No, lovey." You sigh, a patient tone in your voice. Ever since you started the nickname, it seems it's only grown in popularity. Loki simply thought it was the best thing in the world. "But I'm still dreaming of tomorrow."

He laughed, and you let it echo to your core. You wanted to meet him so bad. So close, so soon... What was one more day? You could wait one day. It wasn't forever. It was only tomorrow.

One. More. Day.

"As am I." You heard the smile in his voice as he plotted mischievously. "I am still going to sweep you off your feet the moment I lay my eyes on you." A giggle escaped your lips, but that only proved to encourage him. He did love to fluster you, whether the talk was sweet or dirty. "I will."

"Even if the whole team is in front of you, Mister 'you will never know my secrets'?"

"Even if the entire world is there." The whole... damn. Loki was never one to be overly extraverted, so for him to give up any chance of solitude for you? It warmed your heart to know how important you are to him.

You've never entertained the idea of a relationship. Over 700 years, and you've never considered it official. And yet, you did consider him your soulmate. And as soulmates, you were loyal to one another.

But now, when you met him, he was going to be all yours.

Your Loki.

And you would be his. As... Well, as soulmates technically. But you've been soulmates for years. You were finally entertaining the idea of a 'real' relationship. Beyond just endless chatter and 'eventually' promises.

"I'm scared." You breath shakes as you admit the words, sounding more like a laugh. Maybe you were laughing at such a notion, it was hard to tell. Admitting an insecurity willingly felt strange. "I mean, it's been so long that we've talked about this. Or almost met. It's a bit terrifying that this is finally happening."

Loki hummed in agreement, his own voice hiding a tremble just as yours had. "It is. But it's just as exciting. Do you think our communication will change after we meet?"

You knew what he was doing. Silly trickster. But you appreciated the change of subject, and even the start of the change. So much would be different after you met, and yet, nothing at all. You didn't know. "Maybe? I'm wondering if there's going to be an echo or not. I mean, I don't think there's any difference in timing, but..."

"But we don't know." Loki laughed, and carried on the conversation. He was trying to make you feel better. The only thing the two of you could actually do about the unknown was welcome it with open arms. Speculating about possibilities fell into that category. Things wouldn't be ruined because you met. Nor would everything suddenly be perfect. But it would change. There would be a lot of change.

And maybe change isn't such a bad thing.

A knock on the door startled you. "Oh, give me a second. Someone's here." Loki muttered a brief, last reassurance, and quieted. As you reached to open the door.

"Sorry about this, Y/N." Natasha sighed as she, Clint, and Steve entered your room. Revealing the last newcomer. "It's just some final preparations."

"Miss Y/N." Fury greeted, stepping into the little medical ward you've grown to call your own. "I hope you don't mind answering some questions."

Uh-huh. You flash the most friendly smile you could, getting whiplash from the sudden turn of events. So close... Except now for a final questionnaire. "Of course not."
