Twilight.

Keigo had been in a random alleyway for quite a while, waiting for the sun to go down so it'd be safe to make a move. He'd thought about sitting on the roof of a building but the police would obviously have helicopters out looking for him, and also in the dark it was easier to spot the searchlights scanning the ground.

Pulling his hood over his head, he strolled along casually, kicking at a glass bottle on the pavement. It made a clanking sound that echoed throughout the empty street.

Damn. Keigo had wanted to be alone where no one could find him, but this was almost unreal. There was literally no one about.
He wasn't complaining though - it was just a bit strange, in his opinion, for a street to be so deserted.

The air was thick, the sky covered in pink fluffy clouds. Only when Keigo glanced back did he see he had been walking up a hill, with the sun setting behind him.

It was like something in a story book. The peace, the beautiful view, it was just too good to be true.

A tiny voice in the back of Keigo's mind told him something bad was going to happen - he just couldn't put his finger on it. Was someone stalking him? Were a bunch of heroes going to jump out and ambush him from behind a corner? Did they know he was here? Was this a setup? It would explain the sense of abandonement.

Out of nowhere, he heard a gunshot, and before he could even process what was happening he felt a searing pain in his side like he'd just been stabbed. Looking down, he saw his hoody had a growing red stain on it as it soaked up the blood from his new injury.

Oh, not again.

It seemed that ever since he arrived in Kyushu, he was always finding himself in some sort of trouble. It practically followed him.

There was another gunshot, but this time he was ready - he grabbed one of his largest feathers and whacked the bullet out of the way, narrowing his eyes in the direction it came from.

There were no clues, no sign of anyone or anything that could he shooting bullets at him.

What the fuck?

Another gunshot sounded, and the second he heard it he hardened his feathers and ducked his head, covering him in a sort of wing shield. Whoever was attacking him had moved positions, aiming from behind.

Now that the adrenaline from the first few shots had disappeared, he was starting to feel the pain from his injury again. For a fleeting second his vision blurred and he shook his head, trying to distract himself.

I've deal with this pain before, I can do it again.

Keigo squinted and managed to make out a shadowy figure on top of a nearby building. They seemed to be holding a huge ass gun of some sort. A long range type, definitely, meaning if Keigo got close it would be harder for them to fight, unless they knew martial arts or some shit. Keigo would just have to hope - he could defend himself in a fight, but he wasn't super skilled or anything.

Flapping his wings, he dodged more bullets coming his way and flew directly at his attacker, giving them no time to put away their gun. Both of them tumbled to the roof floor in a messy heap, though Keigo managed to grab their arms and pin them on each side of their head while he looked around frantically for the rifle. Well, that was until the attacker shoved him off of them with it, though Keigo was surprised.

Where did it come from?!

He got up on one knee and tentatively touched his cut lip - there was blood dripping down his chin and he wiped his mouth, standing up properly to see just who he was up against.

The sniper also stood, straightening their posture. Now Keigo could get a proper look at them, and see that they were very feminine. I'm being ambushed by a woman? They had a curvy body and were wearing some sort of suit with breast pockets and a large utility belt.

Her most noticable feature, however, was the rifle that seemed to retract into her elbow. It just...disappeared. That would explain how Keigo was knocked to the side with it when he couldn't see it before.

She suddenly lunged at him and Keigo barely got out of the way. At least, he thought he was out of the way until the woman grabbed his feathers and yanked him backwards so he tripped. It was easy enough to just detached those specific feathers, but the woman somehow knew he could feel them even without being a part of the main wings, and she crushed them underneath her foot.

"Oh come on now, that's cheating!" He jerked his head back to avoid a fist to his face, but soon found himself being backed up as he worked more on offense than defense.

He thought maybe he could tire her out, but it seemed this person had endless stamina - she just kept going. Keigo was already puffing, his breathing becoming heavier by the minute.

In the distance, a siren sounded, but the second he looked over to where the source of it was coming from, he was punched again in the face. Then while clutching his poor cheek, he was grabbed by the shoulders and kneed in the stomach, simultaneously forcing out any excess oxygen in his lungs.

The woman fighting him knew she'd have to finish this quickly if none of them wanted to get caught, and she was clearly winning now. Keigo was now on his hands and knees, struggling to breathe, but he felt the weight of a heavy boot on the back of his head, gradually adding more pressure until his face was pressed up against the floor. Just as he turned to see who exactly was trying to kill him, his head was rammed into the ground, skull cracking with the impact.

That was when everything went black.
