"Beomgyu, your marriage will be held next week. As of now, we need to get your measurements taken care of, and figure out your next lessons." Beomgyu was just peacefully eating his poached egg on toast, when he heard the devastating news coming out of his Dad's mouth.
"Don't you think it's too early? I just turned 18 not too long ago!" "Beomgyu, we already discussed this before. If you want to become King, you-" "What if I don't want to become King!" That definitely silenced the whole room up. Even Beomgyu's Mom put down her silverware and flashed a worried look towards Beomgyu.
"What did you just tell me?" "What if I don't want to become King, Father! I don't want to rule everyone, and be in charge of everything! I want to just be a normal person!" Beomgyu's Dad slammed his hands on the table, and it made such a loud sound, even Beomgyu flinched.
"Go to your room right now, and you will not be coming out until you realize what you've just said to me!" "Gladly." Getting up from the table, Beomgyu spared no glance at anyone as he trudged upstairs. He didn't know where he got the braveness to stand up to his Dad, for the first time at that. Maybe Yeonjun really was influencing him.
Still frustrated, Beomgyu took out his anger on his belongings. Throwing everything he saw on the ground, ripping out notebook pages, and making a mess out of his closet. He didn't care anymore, he wasn't going to get married.
It didn't matter how nice Ryujin was, or the amount of people who were proud of him by the end of the ceremony. All he wanted was to live a life of freedom, and Yeonjun was his ticket there. Rebelling on his parents was something child Beomgyu would have never done. But as an adult now, Beomgyu could care less about the way he treated his parents.
His Mom was the only one that seemed like she would take his side. Although the way she acted during breakfast, not speaking up, made Beomgyu think differently. Really, he was going insane now. It was true, no one was on his side.
For all he knew, he could put a knife to his throat and no one would care! Because he's Choi Beomgyu, a prince next in line for the throne. He has always been taught to be polite, and he has never played with toys or games. He didn't deserve freedom, having the privilege to have anything he wanted in life.
But yet nothing he wanted, would create happiness for him. Without Yeonjun, he had no desire to live. It was like he was being tugged by both sides, one side from his dad, the other from Yeonjun. On impulse, Beomgyu decided he was going to pack up and leave.
If he couldn't be found, how would he get married? Beomgyu smirked as he stuffed a duffel bag full of all his prized possessions, none of his clothes were comfortable, and he had already thrown them all on the floor, so he opted to leave them there.
Being careful about how he climbed out of the window this time, he tied the beginning of the rope to a dresser handle that was near the window. When he dropped down to the ground, he looked at the castle one last time.
So much happy memories had happened in this exact place, but so much more bad memories also happened in this place. Beomgyu hoped he would never be coming back to this castle, which he didn't want to call his home anymore.
The pathway was rocky, as he took big steps to the village. Right now, no one knew he ran away, but by night, everyone in the castle would know. Beomgyu wasn't taking any chances of getting caught so easily, so he rushed with big steps to the village.
Once he entered the village, there were lots of people selling fruits at stalls to the side of the path. A bustling street, with kids running around, adults chatting and having fun, and even stray cats who walked around curiously.
It looked so beautiful to Beomgyu, just people having fun and doing what they wanted. Fruits that weren't imported from a different country, but were from the seller's own garden. Kids playing with each other, and not being afraid of their parents yelling at them for being improper.
The world outside of royalty was what Beomgyu truly wanted. He had found his dream place, his dream home. Everyone looked so welcoming, and happy. Not a single sad face on such a sunny day.
"Excuse me, could I please get two apples, please?" Beomgyu decided to get a few apples, hoping no one would recognize his voice. I mean, he had never really openly talked to the public, but they definitely knew how his voice somewhat sounded like.
"Of course, young man. You're very handsome you know, I think my daughter would love you." Awkward, very awkward. Beomgyu had no idea what to say to that. "Uhm, thank you." He took the bag of apples from the lady's hand and with a small "goodbye" he ventured off further into the village.
It was a bummer he didn't know where Yeonjun lived. But I guess Beomgyu could understand why Yeonjun never told him. He needed to find out where though, because soon enough he wouldn't be able to just stay out in the open.
"If I was Choi Yeonjun, where would I live?"
