Madelyn sank into the couch, stretching her legs out across Soda's lap. She could feel his fingers absently tracing patterns on her ankles as she leaned back against the cushions. Two-Bit and Steve lounged on the floor, their laughter punctuating the dialogue of the show playing on the TV. Johnny and Ponyboy sat at the kitchen table, their heads bent over their textbooks as they worked on their homework. The soft scratching of their pencils on paper provided a steady background noise. Darrel sat in his armchair, engrossed in the morning newspaper.

Madelyn's eyelids drooped as she fought to stay awake, exhaustion weighing heavily on her after a night out with Dallas. She couldn't help but wonder where he was now - she hadn't seen him since he dropped her off at her house that morning.

Steve set his half-empty beer bottle on the coffee table with a clink, his eyes fixed intently on Soda, who was sitting across from him. "Soda, Two, let's go," he said.

Soda slowly rose from the couch, his movements languid and gentle as he carefully lifted Madelyn's legs off his lap and placed them back on the cushions. He rubbed his eyes and stretched his arms above his head, feeling the stiffness of sleep slowly dissipate from his body. "Oh yeah, alright," he said, his voice still thick with drowsiness. Two-Bit got up and followed Steve to the door.

Madelyn sat up, her hair tousled and her eyes still heavy with sleep. She looked at the two of them with curiosity, her mind still foggy from the remnants of her dream. "Where are y'all going?" she asked, her voice soft and groggy.

Steve grinned at her, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Around town, wanna come?" he asked, already heading towards the door.

She nodded, her movements slow and deliberate as she lifted herself off the couch and followed behind Soda to the door.

"Wait, don't forget your shoes!" Steve called out, his voice teasing as he reminded Soda to put on some footwear.

Soda rubbed his eyes again, feeling the warmth of the morning sun beginning to penetrate his skin. He nodded, slipping on his sneakers and feeling the coolness of the floor seeping through the soles of his shoes. "Thanks," he said, grinning at Steve.

"Cya guys later," Soda said, waving goodbye as the three of them walked down the street. The sun was shining brightly, casting a warm glow on the buildings around them. As they stepped outside, the warmth of the sun immediately enveloped them, making them feel as though they were stepping into a sauna. The air was thick with the scent of blooming flowers and freshly cut grass, and the sound of birds chirping filled their ears.

Steve's eyes sparkled with excitement as he turned to Mads. "There's a party at Bucks tonight, you going?" he asked, his hands shoved in his pockets. Mads pushed her hair back behind her ears "Uh, yeah probably," she replied, a small smile playing at the corners of her lips.

They found the closest gas station and immediately ran in, the heat of the day still clinging to their skin. As they entered, the cool air hit them like a refreshing wave, making them all sigh in relief.

Madelyn's mouth watered at the thought of a cold, refreshing slushie. She made a beeline for the slushie machine, grabbing the second largest cup and filling it up to the brim with a mix of Pepsi and cream soda. The icy drink felt like heaven on her tongue, and she savored every sip. Meanwhile, Steve,Two-Bit and Soda wandered over to the ice cream bar, their eyes scanning the different flavors. Steve was tempted by the chocolate fudge swirl, while Soda and Two-Bit were more interested in the strawberry cheesecake.

Madelyn joined the boys at the ice cream bar, and they paid for their treats before returning to the hot outdoors. The sun beat down on them, but the coolness of the air conditioning still lingered on their skin.

As they stepped outside, Madelyn pressed her slushie cup against her forehead, feeling the coldness of the drink seep into her pores. Soda was focused on containing the ice cream in his cone, careful not to let any of it drip onto the ground.

They walked around for a bit, enjoying the refreshing treats and chatting about their plans for the rest of the day. Madelyn couldn't help but exclaim, "Holy shit, I needed this!" as she took another sip of her slushie.

After a while, they decided to explore more of the town. They walked along the main street, admiring the quaint shops and colorful buildings. Madelyn pointed out a vintage clothing store that she wanted to check out, and the three boys eagerly followed her inside.

The store was packed with racks of retro dresses, funky accessories, and quirky hats. The air was filled with the scent of old leather and fabric, and the sound of a vintage record player playing in the background.

Madelyn found a dark blue Canon Demi in perfect condition, on the shelf. She always loved to photograph everything she could so she pulled out some savings and bought the camera.

"Soda look" Madelyn smiled holding up the camera and quickly snapping a few photos as he turned around. "Oh woah, did you just buy that?" He asked, tilting the screen to look at the photos. "Yep, worth every penny" she said while taking a couple photos of Steve.

She then picked up a pair of big heart-shaped sunglasses and put them on, striking a pose in front of the mirror. "Haha, check these out!" she laughed while snapping more photos. They spent the next hour browsing through the store, trying on different outfits and accessories, and taking silly photos of each other.

After fooling around in the shop, they stepped outside and continued walking around.

While wandering around the town, they stumbled upon a small park with a playground. The bright colors of the equipment caught their eyes, and Madelyn immediately ran towards the swings, laughing as she pumped her legs higher and higher. The boys came down to the swings and sat around Madelyn.

As the day drew to a close, the park fell silent, and the three friends lay on the equipment floor, gazing up at the sky. Suddenly, Madelyn broke the silence, taking a cigarette out of her pocket and lighting it. "Guys, I need to tell you something," she said, taking a puff. "What's up?" Soda asked, curious. "It's about Dallas," Madelyn replied, still smoking. "What about him?" Two-Bit chimed in.

"I'm kinda dating him now, since yesterday," Madelyn admitted, smiling slightly and turning her head to the side. "Really? Dallas as in Dallas Winston?" Sodapop asked, furrowing his eyebrows. "Yep," Madelyn confirmed, bringing her legs up to her chest.

Steve pushed his hair back and asked, "Have you told anyone else?" "Nope, so please don't tell anyone yet," Madelyn requested. "You know we won't, Mads," Steve reassured her.

Soda sounded a little worried, "But Dallas really, Lynnie? Don't you think he's usually secretive and cut off? Like he might hurt you." "Well, I mean, kind of, but I trust him, you know," Madelyn replied, as the boys hummed in agreement. The evening air was cool, and the stars sparkled above them as they lay there, lost in thought.

"We should start walking to Bucks," Madelyn suggested, standing up from the equipment. "Right behind you," Two-Bit replied, sliding his fingers through his greasy hair. Steve tapped Sodapop's shoulder, and the three of them followed Madelyn.
