Chapter 2

Maddie and I made it to L.A and settled in to my parents' house. My mom, Gena, never understood what I saw in Josh but supported me no matter what. My dad, Matt, never liked Josh and let me know whenever he could so it was no surprise to him we were taking a separation.

" honey I am sorry you have to go through this" my mom sympathized.

I smiled lightly before I could feel a tear coming. " I just don't get it mom. I have done everything in my power to do what Josh asked of me and neither of us is happy and he wouldn't be any happier if I changed. God forbid he changed"

"well you and little miss Maddie are welcome to stay here for as long as you need to. Don't worry about finding a job, just focus on you, Maddie and figuring out what your next step with Josh is." My mom generously offered.

"thanks momma"

Maddie had fallen asleep in the bed we were going to share until we got a few more things from our house to get her room ready here. I decided to read a book but before I wanted to text my husband to let hI'm know we made it ok

*josh, we made it to my parents hours about a half hour ago. Sorry I didn't text sooner. Good night*

i got no response.

The next morning I got Maddie up for school and decided once she was dropped off I was going to head to the starbucks close to my parents' house. i I ordered my normal venti triple shot caramel macchiato and sat down just to observe and think. I usually don't get to have time to myself like this and I am actually enjoying it. Across the street I notice some advertisement for a concert. after I finish my coffee I decide to walk over and look at it to see who's playing. I haven't been to a concert in ages. Josh doesn't believe in paying money to hear songs from the free radio.

I walked over and saw a picture of 4 boys and a girl advertised as " R5". I have personally never heard of them but the poster says something about Disney Channel, Maddie might know who they are! I decide to get tickets and take her to her first concert. Just to have a mommy daughter outing that is stress free.

the tickets were inexpensive and the concert was being held at The Greek Theater, a place I used to go as a teen to see bands that were up and coming..all of ta of course before I met Josh. I purchased two tickets and they had a meet and greet VIP experience available, I say why not. I am sure Maddie knows these guys since they are associated with the Disney Channel. She is gonna love it. I cannot wait to tell her about it when I pick her up from school.
