The One I Can't Have ( A Riker Lynch fan fiction story)

Chapter 24

Brianna

Riker had been gone with the band on tour for about two weeks now. He never missed a FaceTime or phone call opportunity. I actually was worried he wasn't having fun with the band because he was worried about us too much. Maddie was at school. She had a little more than a week left of school. I was sitting on the couch flipping channels when my phone rang. It was Riker! 

" hey babe!" I answered.

" how's my beautiful wife doing?" He asked. I giggled. " I'm doing good since I talked to you this morning. I am just sitting on the couch watching the tv. Been having a little Braxton hicks contractions every once in a while but it's nothing. Your mom invited us to come have a girls dinner tonight."

" aw that would be nice! I miss you guys so much!" Riker added

" I know you do babe but you need to have fun with the band. Go out with them. Everything here is fine. I just worry you aren't living it up having us at home. I don't want you to regret not doing all you could on tour." 

" I know babe but all I can think about is you and Maddie and little RJ. You guys are more important than anything. Well I do have to go, Rocky is calling a meeting about our show tonight. I love you. Just relax today and don't do anything. Keep that baby safe."

" I love you too. Talk to you later." I said as we hung up.it was a gorgeous day out and I wanted to get some fresh air so I decided that I was going to go for a walk before I had to go get Madeline from school. 

Riker

Rocky had called for a meeting about our show in Albuquerque tonight. We had been in Albuquerque since w got here last night and the weather was looking bad. 

" alright guys, the venue is postponing our show tonight for two days from now. They are having a cloud to ground lightening warning and it is unsafe for not only us but our fans as well. So we have the next couple sprays off as long as we rehearse right now." Rocky informed us. We all groaned at the announcement.

" postponed?" Ellington asked.

" rehearsal right now?" Ross was very unhappy.

We went into the venue to use a small space for rehearsal. It was going to be a long couple days doing nothing just waiting for the show on Tuesday. But then I had an idea. After rehearsal I called my mom really quick.

" hey mom, I have something to ask you and I want to know if it is a good idea or not?" I said after she answered the phone. When we ended the call I went over to the guys and told them what was going on. 

Brianna

I picked up Maddie from school. She seemed really sad today. More than usual.

" missing dad baby girl?" I asked her and I saw her nod through the rear view mirror. " I'm sorry baby. We will meet them in Denver the day after school gets out I promise" 

We were driving to the Lynch house and Maddie looked out the window.

" where are we going mommy?" She asked.

" gramma Stormie wants to have us over for dinner. Tonight. She is making meat loaf and mashed potatoes " she giggled..it was one one of her favorite things that Stormie made. 

We parked the car and headed in to the house. " hey you two beautiful girls" Stormie greeted us with a big hug." I hope you brought your bathing suits cuz I opened the pool up for us to have a relaxing girls night" 

" we sure did!" Maddie said as she ran upstairs. " mama I am gonna get changed in auntie Rydel's old room!" She said.

" do you need any help with anything?" I asked Stormie. 

" nope. It's pretty easy and I will throw it in the oven in  a bit.  But first can you go up in Riker's old room and get me the small stock pot I keep in his closet?" Stormie asked. I nodded and went upstairs. The door was closed which was odd. Stormie never closed those doors now that everyone has moved out. I open the door and immediately put my hands over my mouth in shock. 

" hey Bree! Surprise!" Riker said as he sat there. He got up and gave me a huge hug and kissed me. " you have no idea how long I have waited to do that!" 

" but how did you...what about...why are you..ugh babe what about the tour?" I asked.

" we had one of our venues postponed due to weather and I decided to come home and surprise you. I have to leave to be back in two days but I wanted to be with you." 

" oh my god. You have no idea how happy I am to have you home Riker!" I said as I leaned in for more kisses. He laid his hand on my belly and felt RJ kick."I think someone else missed you too." I giggled. " Maddie come into daddy's old room please!" I yelled for her.

" ok mom competing, why do you need me in here..oh...daddy!!!!" She squealed and jumped into his arms. " I missed you so much! Why are you home?" 

" I have a little time off and wanted to see my two favorite girls. Now let's go downstairs and get in the pool!" Riker said. We all grinned and went downstairs. 

" I will let you know when dinner is ready!" Stormie said as she laughed at us. She pulled ,e aside as I walked by her." Great surprise huh?" She asked.

" the best one yet. How long did you know or how long were you a part of this?" I asked her.

" Riker called me asking for a ride here and he has only been back for an hour." She grinned from ear to ear. " he really loves you guys. I couldn't be happier for the both of you. He is the happiest I have ever seen him." 

" I really love him too. It's crazy how fast it all happened but I am so glad it did. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me and Maddie" I said as I hugged Stormie.

" well go on, you have a husband a child waiting for you" Stormie motioned for me to get my butt outside and I kissed her cheek before heading out. Riker hid behind the furniture and grabbed me. He picked me up and threw me in the water. It was nice to have him home. I just don't think I can let him go back just yet.
