Chapter 10

Riker

We went to my place and dropped Maddie off with Rydel and Ratliff. Maddie was excited to hang out with them. Brianna and I decided to go grab her car and then we were gonna head to her place to hangout for a bit. We had left her car at the fair when we went for ice cream.

" Thank you for taking us out tonight" Brianna said to me. " It means a lot not just to Maddie but to me too."

" I am glad you had fun but please stop thanking me. I wanted to take you guys out and I am glad we get to hangout a bit just us. i know we barely know each other but you and Maddie are special to me and my family already" I said. I looked over to Brianna and noticed she got really quiet. Did I say something wrong? I thought to myself.

We rode to the fair in almost silence. I out on some music and noticed Brianna singing Along to the songs on the radio. She has a wonderful voice. I stopped my singing to listen to her. She noticed and said " what?" I just shook my head. "Nothing." I smiled. She truly is a beautiful girl.

We we got to the parking lot and found her car all by its lonesome. She jumped out with keys in hand.

" want to just follow me to my house?" She asked after she was out of my car.

" Sounds good. See you in a bit." And we pulled out heading to her house.

when we got there she had parked in the garage so I parked in the driveway. When she got out of the car she looked extremely nervous.

" I don't know if I told you or not but we are staying eith my mom and dad until we find a place of our own. They are gone in St. Lucia for the week though. Sorry, I just don't have Money or a job right now to get us a place." She said apologetically.

" Hey, it isnt a big deal. I get it and I don't judge" I gently told her. "We just moved out of our parents home a few months ago." I laughed a bit as I said that.

Brianna led the way and we came into this beautiful entry way of the house and headed for the kitchen. " want a drink?" Brianna Asked. " we have wine, beer, water, hard liquor. Whatever you want. I think I am gonna have a glass of Moscato" she offered.

" I'll take a glass too" I responded. It was interesting watching her rummage throughout the kitchen. She had trouble with the cork I the wine bottle, so I took over for her.

"Thanks" she said as I handed the bottle back to her. Our hands touched a bit and I noticed she blushed.

we grabbed our drinks and sat in the living room. Brianna sat down first on the sofa and I sat down next to her. I guess I could have sat in the recliner chair or on the other sofa but I wanted to get to know her a little more aside from her marriage troubles like what is she into, what are her interests and hobbies kind of thing. I know she also wants to know more about me too.

Brianna

As Riker sat next to me on the sofa I tensed up a bit. Even my soon to be ex would never sit next to me on the sofa. He always preferred to sit by himself in either the recliner or somewhere else. Riker was proving to me over and over in the short amount of time we spent together that he was the total opposite. I decided to break the ice a little bit.

"So I heard you are from Colorado? You mentioned it to Maddie when you told her about the dairy farm"

" Yep. We left Colorado and moved to L.A when I was sixteen. I had always wanted to be in the entertainment industry So my mom and dad packed everyone up and we moved. Rydel didn't like that a whole lot." Riker told me his story. How they met Ellington and how they became such a hit as a band. I didn't know he was on Glee either. I loved that show. I just never made the connection.

" So how about you, other than your troubling relationship, what is Brianna about?"Riker asked me.

" Well I grew up here in this house actually. It hasn't changed a whole lot since I left. I am an only child. My parents always were at work so I was left to fend for myself more often than not. I met Josh in high school. We got married right after and Maddie was born a year later." I look at him as I told him. My story is boring compared to his.

" What kind of hobbies do you like or what do you do for fun?" Riker asked

" well I don't Actually. I was never allowed to by Josh. he wanted me home to care for Maddie but to make sure he never had to do anything but go to work and that was it. I spent my time cleaning the house so that I wouldn't get a lecture when he got home. So when i was home alone I would just crank up with radio and sing. I love sinoting." I mentioned.

" I noticed when we were on our way to get your car. You have a beautiful voice" he added.

" Thank you. I am sorry to lay all my difficulties on you. It's really not fair of me." I said with a little tear in my eye. Riker turned to look at me in the eyes.

" You don't have to be sorry." he said as he put his hand on my cheek and leaned in. We kissed for the first time. I was a little shocked but I didn't stop it. He was very gentle and I could see he was worried after.

" Oh Brianna I am so sorry. I am just confusing you more. I like you a lot but I don't want to do anything stupid." He said. He kept apologizing and hanging his head.

" Riker, stop. Its ok. I had decided long before I got to know you that I was going to file for Divorce. I need to do it for me and Maddie. Our life with Josh is just not healthy for either of us. We have experienced more fun and spontaneity in the last couple days than we ever have. Please don't be sorry. I like you too and so does Maddie but you have to know that Maddie is my main priority." I start to panic Not knowing what else to say.

" Are you sure that is what you want? I am not trying to be a home wrecker here" Riker says trying to lighten the mood a bit. I laugh a little. He he grabs my hand and intertwined his fingers with mine. " I am not going anywhere. You and Maddie are special to me. I couldn't let that go." He smiles and kisses me again.

A few minutes later I look at the time. " oh crap! Maddie needs to be home and in bed!" I get anxious. " sorry to spoil this Riker but I have to get Maddie. She has school tomorrow."

" It's ok Brianna. Here, let's take my car. I will drive you there and back. I already have her booster seat in my car from earlier." He says and we take off to his house.

as we drive to the R5 band house, Riker holds my hand in the car. It's really a sweet gesture. I have never had anyone care so much. I really like Riker but we can'thave a relationship like we want until I smooth things over with a divorce from Josh. I already feel like I am cheating and that was never my intention.
