Chapter 25

Riker

It has been a week since I had to go back on the tour. I am so glad that I got to come home and surprise them. We had a great couple days together as a family. Brianna and Maddie are going to be here tomorrow and I couldn't wait. Brianna was getting further along in her pregnancy so my mom was helping her get packed and ready for tour. Maddie finished off school with all As and a B on her report card. So proud of her! We had a show tonight in Denver and another one here tomorrow. It was so nice to be back in my home state.

" hey Riker can you come help me real quick?" Ellington asked me. Hmm I wonder what this was about. 

" what's up dude?" I ask

" well, so I wanted to talk to you for a bit. It's about Rydel." 

" oh?"

" well I had a talk with your dad the other day and I need help picking out the perfect engagement ring." He blushed big time.

" engagement ring? Ellington are you sure?" I asked kind of shocked to be honest. " sorry dude..I am just shocked." I said running my hands through the back of my hair.

" well I know Bree and Maddie are coming tomorrow and I want the whole family there. I was thinking of doing it at the end of the show in front of the whole crowd. It would really surprise her."

" I think that's a great idea. I will announce Bree and Maddie about halfway through the show so we don't take away from you and Rydel. Aww buddy I am excited for you two!" I wrap him in a hug. 

" well while we take a little break from rehearsal would you mind coming with me to the jewelry store?" He asked. I nodded and went about my business. 

A few hours later Ellington and I headed to a jewelry store. We walked over to the rings.

" I want to find her something classic and sophisticated, yet simple." He told me. I thought that was brilliant. It describes Rydel to a t. So we looked and looked..most were too flashy/blingy..some were too simple. Then he came across this beautiful ring. It was a solitaire princess cut, but it was on the band kind of twisted  so that the points were facing her hand kind of thing. The band had diamonds surrounding it. It was beautiful. 

" I think this is it Riker." He said as he paid for her ring. He asked me to keep it for him so Rydel wouldn't get suspicious or accidentally find it. 

" dude, I am so happy for you guys already!" I said as I did the bro handshake thing.

" well wait a minute she hasn't said yes yet." He reminded.

" how could she not say yes? Anyways k am happy you are officially joining our family! Let's head back to our last short rehearsal before the show starts so that no one gets suspicious." I motioned to the car.

" oh and Riker, don't tell anyone. I want this to surprise everyone even the band, Bree and Maddie mmkay?" He asked. 

" scouts honor!" I said as I put up my two fingers. We laughed as we headed back to rehearsal. All I could think about though was my girls joining us tomorrow. I get to pick them up at the airport around 11am.

Brianna

The next day...

Maddie and I made it on the airplane. It was a direct flight to Denver which was nice. Maddie watched a movie on my laptop while I stared out the window. I was too excited to sleep. Oh how I have missed my husband. 

We got to Denver and got off the plane. Maddie had to go pee really bad and so we had to stop. Riker said he was picking us up and I was so anxious to get to baggage claim to see him.
