The One I Can't Have ( A Riker Lynch fan fiction story)

Chapter 7

Brianna

I woke up the next morning confused. Then I get a text from a number I don't recognize. * thanks for letting Maddie come on stage with us last night. She is one adorable little girl.* is what the text said. My heart started to race. This was from Riker! I quickly respond so that he doesn't think I am ignoring him.

*no, Riker, thank you. You really made her feel special and she doesn't get that very often.* I send it off and question my intentions. Was that the right thing to tell a complete stranger? ugh my heart pound and I start getting nervous about what he will say back, if he even does.

I go outside and grab the morning paper and notice that the Orange County Fair is happening today. What a fun thing to take Maddie to! I decide once we get breakfast and get ourselves ready for the day, I will take her. My mom and dad left a note on the coffee table letting me know that they were going away for the week. They were on vacation in St. Lucia. How nice, I thought to myself. It will give me lots of time to get Maddie and I settled in here.

I walk up to Maddie's room and peek in the door. She is still sleeping. She looks like an angel. I really got lucky with her. I walk over and gently rub her back to wake her up. I see her big blue eyes start to open.

"Maddie sweety I am gonna start breakfast. I have a fun day planned for us today. How would you like to go to the fair?" I ask her gently.

" Oh mama I have always wanted to go to the fair. My friends talk about it at preschool sometimes" she said with a little sadness in her eyes. Josh hates the fair,hates the fact that it costs a little bit of money to go have fun as a family.

"Well sweet girl, I am excited to bring you today! So hurry up and get dressed and I will have breakfast ready when you are done! Mommy is excited to spend the day with you again!"

As as maddie ate breakfast I went up to the bedroom we are currently sharing and started rummaging around for something to wear. I never get to dress up. Josh always called me a skank if I wore anything cute or sexy for him. I decided on a cute pair of jean shorts and a tank top I have had for a long time. It said " maui" on the front. I paired it with my only pair of sandals. I put my long reddish brown hair up in a messy bun because I know it will be a scorcher out there at the fair. I made sure to leave my wedding ring in the jewelry box where I put it the night before. the more I think about everything the more I don't want to be married to Josh. I just need to take the steps to get this all figured out with Maddie's best interest.

" Mama, I am done and ready to go!" Maddie yells as I grab my sunglasses and purse from our room.

" Ok baby girl. I am ready too. Let's go!" I say. Maddie looks at me funny and I give her that " what's wrong" look.

" Mama you look beautiful! You never wear pretty clothes like that!" Gee thanks Mad, I think to myself as we head out the door to the fair.

Riker

I woke up that morning and fixed the text so it was more relevant and pressed send. What harm could it do? I didn't expect a text back though. And I wasn't sure what to think about it. From the looks of the text it sounds like either she isn't happy in her marriage or something isn't right about Maddie. Either way I was intrigued.

I didnt text back. To be honest I kind of forgot. the band and I got up earlier than usual and had a short rehearsal before our show tonight. We also wanted to go to the Orange County Fair. I love fairs. The food, the rides, the crowds, everything excites me and I couldn't wait!

" Hey guys!" My mom says as she comes into our rehearsal. " I brought you some breakfast! I know you have a lot planned for the day so I wanted to make sure you got off on the right foot! Coffee, hot chocolate,juice, donuts, fruit, bagels and muffins. Come and get it!" our mom is the best. We all moved out of our parents house and into what we call the band house. We are pretty responsible but sometimes it is nice when mom stops by to check in on us! Ratliff is the only one who isn't related to us but he's pretty much family and calls mom, mom too.

" Thanks mom" all five of us say in unison as we grab platefuls of food.

After rehearsal we we decided to get dressed and head to the fair. I ran in and grabbed the shower before Ross got in. There is never enough hot water after Ross has been in the shower. Next thing I know I have a gallon Tupperware juice container full of ice water dumped on my head while Rocky video tapes me and my reaction. " Holy Shit that's cold!" I yell laughing. I am all for a good prank but I tend to get this one a lot. They are very sneaky and I almost never hear them come in the bathroom. When I think I hear them and they truly aren't even in there I usually get laughed at later. oh the joys of being the oldest brother.

Once we we were all ready we pile in my truck and head to the fair. I looked at my phone and forgot I hadn't replied to Brianna yet. I should text her back I think. So I shoot her a quick text before we pull out of the driveway. * hope you and Maddie have a wonderful day. My band and I have a busy day but I hope to talk to you soon* I press send and turn the key in the ignition.
