The One I Can't Have ( A Riker Lynch fan fiction story)

Chapter 26

Brianna

Rydel and Ellington are engaged! I wonder if that was the secret Riker seemed to be hiding! This was wonderful! After we all got back to the hotel i sat with Rydel drinking some coffee.

" I am so so happy for you and Ell!" I said " he did a great job picking out your ring!" I admired it for a while.

" thanks Bree! I heard he had a little help from Riker though. He said he wanted to get the right one and Riker would know best and he has already picked out a ring for you so he should be an expert" she laughed.

" well when is the wedding?" I ask her.

" we want to wait until baby RJ gets here. But I was thinking a march wedding next year" she told me.

" sounds wonderful!" I cheered.. " well I am gonna head up to my room. Maddie and Riker are probably wondering where I am. Congratulations again Delly. You deserve it!" I said as I walked to the elevator. 

As I got in the elevator, I started getting some awful cramps. They doubled me over and I couldn't move. No! I thought to myself. RJ stay in there! I cramped really hard and by the time I got to the floor our room was on I was kneeling in the floor. The door opened and Riker stood there with Maddie. 

" babe we were just coming to look for...what's wrong Bree?" Riker asked. Looking confused as to why I couldn't stand up.

" I think the baby is coming early. I can't move. it hurts too bad!" I said crying.

" ok babe. Hold on. Maddie can you help me get your mom to the chair tright here." He pointed to the couch thing next to the elevator. They helped me up and got me sitting. " Maddie can you go down the hall to gramma and grandpas room and tell them mommy and daddy are going to the hospital and will call them once we know what is going on? You can stay with them ok baby girl. We love you and we will be back." Riker said as he started panicking. 

" ok babe we are going to get through this." He said trying to reassure me. " can you stand up? Ok I need you to try your hardest to get up and get back in the elevator. I am driving you to the hospital." He said as he helped me up. 

We got to the hospital and the doctors hooked me up to monitors and took my vitals. 

" hi there Brianna lynch. I am Dr. Hollingsworth from the OB department. How far along are you?" She asked.

" 24 weeks." I said as I clutched my stomach.

" well it looks like you are in early labor. We are going to do everything we can to stop it so I need you to lay back so I can check your cervix to make sure you aren't dilating" doctor said. Riker looked at me confused. 

" babe they have to go up in there to check my cervix." I said laughing. He looked horrified! The doctor checked my cervix and Riker looked like he was gonna pass out.

" well good news is you aren't dilating!" The doctor said with relief. " we are just gonna give you a little something through your IV, give you a steroid shot just in case this happens again to make sure baby's lungs are as developed as possible. You will need to stay over night though. We need to keep these monitors on you to make sure things slow down. If things go well you will be able to leave in the morning" 

" thanks doctor." Riker said as she left the room. " well I and going to go get something to eat. Need anything?" Riker asked.

" no thanks babe. I just want to rest." He nodded. Riker came and gave me a kiss before he left.

" I will be right back. I am gonna call my mom and let her know everything is ok." He said and walked out the door. I turned to my left side and fell asleep fast. Those contractions will take the energy right from you. 

Riker 

I left to go call my parents to let them know we should be home in the morning.

" he mama.thank you for keeping Maddie. We just had a little scare. She went into preterm labor and they are going to monitor the baby for the night." I told her

" oh sweetie! I hope things are ok now. Maddie is fine just worried about her mama. Her and dad are watching frozen." Mom giggled.

" well they gave Brianna something in an IV and if things go well we should be home in the morning. We might miss breakfast." I said 

" no worries just keep her company and get some rest yourself." She said to me. " oh and Riker?"

" yes mama?"

" I just want to tell you that I am so proud of you, you and the band are doing great, you took on a marriage with baggage that you made your own. And now you are getting ready to be a real dad. I am just so proud of the man you have become, Brianna is a lucky girl" mom said and I could hear her start crying.

" thanks mom. But I am the lucky one. Good night I will call in the morning to update you." I said as I hung up the phone. I decided I wasn't very hungry and went back to the room to keep Brianna company.

I got there and she was sound asleep. She looked so beautiful and peaceful. Looks like the contractions have stopped thank god. I decided to climb into the bed with her and lay next to her. I rubbed her belly and talked to our son.

" little man you gave us quite a scare today. Don't do it again you hear" I said as I laughed a bit. I kissed Brianna on the cheek and fell asleep with her. The doctor came in every once in a while to check on her and gave me a look of disapproval as she saw me up on the bed with her. I gave her an apologetic look. 

The next morning the doctor told us we could leave. Under the instructions that Brianna goes on bedrest.
