I asked for a day off today because we are having dinner with Clay's dad. And thankfully the owner agreed.
We are now sitting in the living area while waiting for her dad, when suddenly, Bella arrived.
"Hello, there lovers?" She greeted sarcastically
Clay stood up and dragged her back to the main door.
"Why are you here?"
"Chill dude! I just wanted to visit you and Tito"
"We will have dinner tonight just the three of us so please, leave"
Clay was about to open the door when her dad arrived.
"What is going on here? I can hear your voices outside" her dad said with furrowed brows.
"Good evening Tito. I was just visiting today and I didn't know you're having dinner tonight and Clay here wants me to leave" Bella explained
"What I meant was, you can visit some other day" Clay responded and rolled her eyes at Bella.
"Let her stay Clay I'm sure Sab wouldn't mind, right iha?"
Tito looked at me and I just nodded and timidly smiled
We are now eating when Clay started talking.
"Dad, I want to formally tell you that Sab and I are back together." She said with full enthusiasm.
"That is good to know. I know you guys love each other so I'm really happy for the both of you"
We were about to say thank you to tito when Bella started laughing. We all looked at her confused.
"Oh, I'm sorry I just remembered something funny. Does your mom know? Hmm, Clay?"
"Right Clay, did you talk to your mom already?" Her dad asked
"Not yet dad. I will call her later and tell her about me and Sab"
"Great! I know she will be happy to meet Sab" Tito said
The dinner went well I guess, aside from Bella being narcissistic the whole time. Clay drove me home after dinner.
It's been about a few months and Clay and I are going well together. Jakey and Milly are now friends with Clay but still always reminding Clay not to hurt me. It's funny really but I appreciate it a lot.
Graduation is around the corner and I can't wait for the school year to end.
Jakey and Milly are now in my apartment. They planned a Pajama party for the three of us and obviously, Clay is not invited.
"Finally! Na solo kana rin namin Sab! date kayo ng date lagi ni Clay eh" Jakey said
"Kaya nga! Inaagaw ka nya samin. Patay yun sakin sa Monday!" Milly said and we all burst out laughing.
"So ano plano mo sa birthday mo?" Jakey asked.
"I guess, same old routine? Eat out sa labas kasama kayo and family niyo kung free sila and syempre ngayon kasama na si Clay and I'll invite her dad too"
It's been a tradition during my birthdays since first-year college to just celebrate it with Jakey and Milly's family. They know that I'm an orphan and I'm grateful that their parents treat me like their daughter. They will always invite me during family gatherings too but sometimes I politely declined because I don't want to ruin their family bonding.
Since I lost my mom I became very independent. I cannot be weak physically and emotionally. I have to show that I'm strong and I can make it even if I'm alone. Loneliness is bearable with Jake and Milly around. And now, life is wonderful with Clay back in my world.
It's the day before my birthday. I woke up early today because I have to go to church to light a candle and visit mom too. It's Friday and I asked the owner of the cafe for a day off. He agreed because he knows that tomorrow is my birthday and it's my yearly tradition. I'm planning to go to the salon as well to pamper myself.
For breakfast, I ate my overnight oats with chia seeds and added some greek yogurt to it. I took a bath and changed. I am wearing a red T-shirt dress, topped with a light blue jean jacket, and paired it with Old Skool Racing Red Vans shoes.
"Holy motherfuck*r!" I shouted as I opened the door. It was Clay holding a bouquet of flowers covering her face.
"Clay naman eh. Ayaw mo ata akong umabot sa birthday ko bukas eh!"
"I'm so sorry baby. It's a surprise!" She said laughing
"Not funny Clay! What are you doing here?" I asked
"I know your birthday is still tomorrow. I just want to spend the day with you. Can I take you out on a date?" she said her gaze gentle
I nodded and hugged her tight.
"But we have to go to church first and visit mom"
She nodded and gave me a quick kiss.
After going to church and visiting mom. She drives us to I don't know where. I was shocked when we arrived at a theme park. I think both of us need to freshen up our memories about our likes and dislikes. Did she forget that I almost faint during the Hot air balloon ride?
"Surprise baby! She said enthusiastically.
I just gave her a blank stare.
"Baby, I know you are afraid of heights but you have to conquer it. This will be fun I promise you and I will be here for you. Advance happy birthday baby! I love you so much and mamayang gabi na lang gift ko sa'yo" She said, wiggling her brows.
I just rolled my eyes at her. I unbuckle my seatbelt and went out of the car and heard her say "That's right baby, practice kana mag roll ng eyes para mamaya"
"Shut up Clay!" I said as I walked towards the entrance.
I told her that I want to ride the Merry-go-round first. She asked me to ride the roller-coaster, I agreed and I think it was the worst decision of my life.
"Clay please, tama na yung roller coaster," I said still shivering because of fear
"I'm sorry baby! But okay, since this day is for you hindi na kita pipilitin sumakay sa extreme rides. How about bumper cars?"
I nodded while drinking my water.
"Let's take a rest first"
We sat on one of the benches of the park. She bought ice cream for both of us. We are just watching people pass by as we eat our ice cream.
"Clay, thank you so much for today. I really appreciate you." I said and kissed her on her cheek.
"Baby, the day is not yet over. May surprise pa ako mamaya" she said and winked her eyes at me.
The day goes by filled with laughter and Joy as we end our theme park date watching the fireworks display.
With fingers intertwined, I looked at her beautiful face and said "You make me so happy baby. I love you"
