"One more thing...will you be coming to the naming ceremony of the Caseys on Saturday?

"Oh, maybe. I'll let you know. I might be going to my dad's for Thanksgiving. I don't know if I'll be in town."

::::::::::::::::

"So, you're leaving?" Alex said as soon as he crossed the treshhold. She was still wrapped in his silk robe.

Her matted hair, her pale face, the bandages and pink, raw scratches and cuts, paired with her lovely big eyes made her look so vulnerable, so defenceless, he wanted to put her in a box and ship her to Bora Bora, where she would be safe with only him.

"We're leaving."

"We are not. You can leave. I'll be fine in a few days anyway."

He was in front of her in a heartbeat, invading her personal space. "You will come with me, where you can be safe. And that is that. Do you understand?" His voice was cold and hard, like steel.

She involuntarily recoiled just a hint, enough to let him know she knew he wasn't playing, and there was not much she could do to stop him. "I know you think I'm just a child playing spy, but I know what's going on, and I know that Finn..."

"...Will be fine. He is a big boy. He can take care of himself. You don't owe him or anybody anything." His voice was a little softer. He put his hand on her shoulder, patting it lightly.

"I don't. You don't have to protect me. I will be fine, and I know I can set things right. I just need to make a few calls, to make sure..." Her eyes mirrored his betrayal. Her mouth formed a word that didn't pass her lips. It was most likely a profanity.

With one flick of his wrist, he had incapacitated her. As she found consciousness slipping past her, right through her fingers, he caught her limp body, already deep in slumber. The last thing she felt was his embrace. She didn't quite get his last words to her. "I will always protect you."

Lucian Knightly felt like a lost puppy.

He was not going to break into her house and get her clothes. If anyone was watching, it would be too dangerous.

The next best thing was to get everything she'd need from the mall. So the next morning, after checking that Alex was still sleeping, and knowing that she'd be out cold for a while longer, he made his way.

He knew her size, but not much about her personal style. He knew that Alex the student wore the uniform from school per regulation, and when she wore "civilian" clothes, she wore what teenagers wore, almost exactly like the models from the trending magazines any other teenage girl would copy. On the previous missions together, they were both undercover, so he didn't know what type of clothes she'd wear when she was being herself.

Then he remembered the night she accompanied him to his half-sister's wedding. It was the first time he knew for sure he had caught a glimpse of the real Alex.

He knew what to look for, but to be on the safe side, he got her some basic black clothes too. He got her a few pairs of shoes, a nice black jacket, and then he found himself on the undergarments department.

He knew her size very well, and decided to mess with her just a little. He went about picking lacy, girly, French-style pieces with bows, and delicate silk and tissue-like fabric.

"Gotta say I'm a little jealous of your girlfriend, here." The cashier commented while ringing him up.

"Well...I know what I like to see her in, and she likes to indulge me." He said with his brightest smile.

The sales girl looked him once-over. "With that face and body, anyone would indulge you...real good..."

He cleaned up his house, and started looking for a way for both of them to sneak out and leave without footprints behind. He did not want to call his father for help, so he was arranging what would look like a honeymoon to Bora Bora, one of the few places where werewolves did not live. It was hard to change at touristy places to beging with, but the humidity, heat, and the sand did not make it the best place to run in pelt.
