Bonnie and Malik were sitting on Elena's bed with her grimoire and a tray before them containing three lit candles and a bowl in which they were burning sage, while Elena talked to them about her morning findings.
Apparently she tried to call Stefan and Damon and neither of them answered the phone, she took it upon herself to go all the way to the Salvatore Boarding House to check out what happened when she ran into Rebekah leaving the house. Clearly indicating that they slept together and Damon also did not shy away from that.
"He was gloating. Like he was proud of himself for sleeping with her. Is it working?" asked Elena the last part turning to the door.
" It's not working. I can hear every word you're saying about Damon, the vampire gigolo" responded Caroline after she entered the room slightly annoyed.
" I don't know, it's a tricky spell" admitted Bonnie looking at the grimoire then onto the sage, while Malik was texting on his phone.
" When Esther did it, she kept the sage burning. There was a lot more smoke."
"Alright" yielded Bonnie and relighted the sage. "Try it again."
Caroline scoffed and left the room again, Malik just looked up from his phone and kept his eyes on the sage, watching it burn but also not sensing any magic coming from the ritual. He wanted to say something but at the same time, he wanted Bonnie to discover this all on her own.
" Speaking of Esther, you should know that she came to see me and Abby this morning" continued Bonnie gently waving the sage in her hand.
" And all this time you let me vent about Damon?" deadpanned Elena looking at her best friend.
" I don't want you to worry."
"What did she want?" asked the doppelgänger but even Malik was curious to find out.
After their encounter during the ball he was both impressed and nervous about the witch. It was clear she was a powerful witch but still made him nervous.
"She wanted to introduce herself. Abby and I helped bring her back. She's channelling our entire ancestral bloodline for power. I think she thought she was being polite... especially since she already met my brother."
" Okay well, is there a way to stop her from channelling you?" asked Elena suddenly which surprised the Bennett twins.
"It's very unlikely Elena. Why would we want that?" asked Malik looking at her confused.
"I just keep thinking that before the sun and the moon ritual, Elijah found a way to keep me alive. And now I'm in exactly the same position and I'm just gonna let him die? It just doesn't feel right."
Malik and Bonnie were about to respond when the door flung open and Caroline entered with a disapproving look.
" Okay. First of all, this privacy spell is totally not working. Second. Elena, you are not doing this, Esther is doing this."
