"What do you mean you're ditching my clean up committee?" demanded Caroline on the phone with Tyler while her and Malik walked through the school corridors towards the gym.
"Klaus called. He's leaving town and wants me to pack up his house."
" Hold on, since when does sire bond equal mover slave?"
"He's being petty" commented Malik.
"He still thinks I'm sired to him. I'll keep up the act and it will all be over soon. I'm late, I gotta go. I love you."
" I love you too."
Caroline hung up the phone and turned to Malik about to speak up when suddenly she heard a noise and turned around.
" Hello?" asked Caroline surprising Malik who looked around but not seeing anyone addressed the blonde slightly confused.
"Did you hear something?"
"I thought I did... maybe I just imagined it."
"I hope so. Last thing I need today is more vampire drama. Or any kind of drama!"
Walking into the cafeteria they noticed immediately that it was only Rebekah in there, cleaning up the mess by herself.
"Where's Matt?" asked Caroline confused.
"He bailed. Got called into work at the last minute.
"So, it's just us?" questioned Malik.
" Yes, and you're late. Clean up committee started at eight o'clock."
" It's like 8:02" said Caroline looking at her phone.
"Exactly. I managed to turn up on time and I didn't even get to attend the dance that I organized."
Rebekah simply walked past them and emptied out the trash, Malik and Caroline exchanged a look and they turned to the Original.
"I'm sorry about your mom. I mean I know you like, hated her and everything, but still... I'm sorry" offered Caroline little unsure of herself.
"I'm sorry about your teacher. He seemed like a nice guy."
"Yeah. He was."
"I'm gonna get started on the gym" announced Rebekah and Malik was quick to respond.
"I'll help" offered Malik and walked out with the girl in silence.
As they got to the hallway they both had a strange feeling and soon enough Alaric came around the corner and both of them stopped dead in their tracks.
"You're supposed to be dead."
"I am!"
Out of instinct Rebekah rushed at Alaric, but Alaric threw her against the locker. He was about to stab her with the white oak stake when Malik used his magic to stop it, but all he was able to do is somewhat hold him back, his magic was barely affecting the vampire which shocked him. No matter what additional spells he tried or how much power he unleashed, it was useless. Luckily to them Caroline rushed out of the cafeteria and pinned Alaric to the locker.
