𝑷𝑹𝑰𝑫𝑬. ~ 𝑲𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒌 𝑳𝒂𝒎𝒂𝒓

It had been almost three years since his daughter went in that damn mission and Tony hadn't been able to sleep ever since.

He would go to bed with Pepper and then not even a few hours later he ended up in his lab searching for something that could prove that Cameron was still alive.

That day he was in his lab after having a quick lunch. Pepper left for a meeting for the Stark Tower, a big tower that they had been working on in the last years.

Pepper convinced him to do this project in 2010 after another sleepless night. She understood that he needed a distraction and maybe creating a big ass building was the right one.

Tony was also supposed to be at that meeting, but since Cameron disappeared he hadn't gone to any of those and he hadn't done any interview or stuff like that. He's priority was finding his daughter, even though he knew that she was long gone at one point.

He managed to hack into many security systems of banks or any other building that had some security cameras. Since the last time he had found something else and he didn't always show everything to S.H.I.E.L.D.

He found small recordings or photos and in all of them there was Cameron, but she was almost never alone. There was most of the times a muscular and tall man with a mask. Tony had tried to search something on his identity, but always without success.

The thing that scared him was that a part of him wished that he never found those photos and recordings because in all of them there was blood on her clothes and it wasn't hers. He also found out some news about the place she was and those were always news about someone's mysterious death or a building that was strangely set on fire.

He didn't want to believe that his daughter could do all of that and even more. He knew that she would never do something like that on purpose, so she had to be controlled in some way.

Tony stood up from his seat and went to get some files that Natasha gave him in the last years. He still didn't have a great relationship with S.H.I.E.L.D. and neither with Nick Fury, but they agreed with giving him some secret files and information to get a better lead on Cameron.

He read the files carefully looking for something that maybe he didn't catch before. They were mostly files about Cameron's past, those twenty years that he lost of her life and that she most likely lost too.

There were many words that S.H.I.E.L.D. hid before giving the files to Tony and the things that he needed most were the names of the criminal organizations that captured Cameron, but they were all hidden.

"The subject hasn't been through any procedure at ••••• and has shown a great ability in fighting.
Kill count 2001-2004: 400+"

Tony read that paragraph over and over again until he could remember every single word. He read that file every day trying to convince himself that his daughter was capable of something like that willingly, but as hard as he tried he couldn't believe it. It was as if something inside him told him that it wasn't true.

He continued reading the file until he heard some footsteps coming from the hallway. He looked towards it furrowing his brows before standing up. When he reached the hallway he found a dark figure walking towards the living room not even caring to look behind.

Tony immediately knew who it was.

He started walking through the hallway until he reached the living room finding the dark figure that he saw before now sitting on his big couch.

"What are you doing here Fury?", Tony asked annoyed.

"I'm here to talk", Fury replied calmly.

"Unless you have some other files or information on Cameron I'm not interested", he said.

"I'm not here to give you any of those but I'm here to talk about Cameron", he said watching as Tony sat down on the other couch in front of him.

"If you're here to try and convince me to stop looking for her then you better get out", Tony said quickly.

"It's been three years Stark, you need to accept the fact that she's gone", Fury replied.

"But she isn't dead, so why should I stop while she's still out there?", Tony asked him as he stood up once again.

"If you go on S.H.I.E.L.D. won't be able to help you anymore", Fury said carefully.

"You officially stopped the researches?", Tony asked him as he stopped pacing around.

"We've been working on something more important in the last months, our priorities changed", Fury explained.

"So the life of one of your best agents isn't a priority?", Tony asked angrily.

"No, not righ now", Fury replied keeping his composure watching as Tony scoffed.

"Listen, I know that you're worried for her but it's been too long and there's nothing that we can do anymore", Fury said eyeing him carefully.

"I can do something though, I found many recordings by now and maybe I could go in some of those places to find more-", Tony started to say but Fury cut him off.

"Let's say that you do find her, then are you sure that you will be happy with what you found?", Fury asked him.

He knew that Cameron wasn't being controlled and that she never wanted to become a killer, but he needed Tony to believe that his daughter became someone else, someone that he could fear.

As much as he cared for her he needed S.H.I.E.L.D. to focus on the tesseract, a strange cube that they found in the last year that could be a great source.

"I can't just sit around while she's being taken by some crazy criminal organization that turned her into a killer, Fury. I don't care if she became someone else, someone that I won't be able to recognize, I just can't lose her", he said truthfully.

"I know, but there's nothing that we can do at this point", Fury said standing up aswell.

"So, What? I just stop searching?", Tony asked in disbelief.

"That's your choice, but whatever you do S.H.I.E.L.D. won't be able to help you", Fury replied and Tony nodded looking down.

"You need to let her go Tony", Fury said before walking away.

Tony looked at him as he got out of his big house. As the door closed he quickly wiped away the tears that began to stream down his face.

He sat down on the couch holding his head with his hands not being able to contain the tears anymore.

As much as he could try he knew that he was never going to be able to let her go.
