I held the branch of the tree I was behind so I could get a better look at what was going on. There was a man applying tape to cover Caitlin's mouth. Caitlin was tied up on a black chair, the man to whom I ask was Brian, was pacing behind her. Gun waving in his hand. I gulped at the sight of it. I could lose everything, I could lose her.

Just short of a day ago Caitlin promised me something, she promised me that she would never leave me. That she would be with me no matter what. I just hoped that the promise would be kept. That it wouldn't be over so quickly because of some crazy ex.

"Ugh.....when is your little boyfriend going to show..... He needs to see the show." Brian said in an evil tone making Caitlin jump and struggle to try to get free of the ropes.

Did he mean me? Was I the one who was suppose to save her? Could I save her?

I guess I wasn't really thinking, because my next action was nothing plain of stupid.

I jumped out from behind the tree that was hiding me. Brian looked shocked as he jerked his head to the side to see myself.

"Oh, and you must be little lover boy." He said followed by an evil laugh making me cringe. "You know what this is don't you......lover boy." He said waving his gun in the air.

My eyes widened, was he going to kill me? Shoot me? Or even worse kill her? Shoot her?

Brian walked over towards Caitlin, ripping the duck-tape off of her mouth. Making her scream softly.

"Shut your mouth woman." He snapped at her.

"Caitlin!" I said running to her.

"Dan!" She said back, but before I could get to her, Brian stood in front of us, blocking my way to her chair.

"Get the fuck back, don't make this hard Howell." He said giving me a death glare.

Again, how does he know who I am?

"Alright, now I have some questions for you Caitlin. Pretty easy ones if I do say so myself. But the prize is pretty big." He snorted evilly. "The prize is life or death.....you choose"

"What?!?" I swear if you hurt her!" I said running towards him.

"And what are you goons do Howell? Draw cat whiskers on my face? Crush me in Mario Cart?" He asked bluntly. "Your pathetic you can't do anything. Your useless."

That hit me hard, it made me think back to when I cut. It wasn't that long ago considering. I had a long history of cutting. And in this moment I would have, but I didn't have a razor.

"Just let her go, mate. Take me instead." I pleaded with him.

"Nah mate..." He said mocking me. "She actually isn't worthless."

"I know, she the fucking best thing that ever happened to me. And your just going to take her away just like that!" I screamed.

"Listen. Dan..." He rolled his eyes. "You did the exact same thing to me"

"YOU FUCKING ABUSED HER MAN! YOU DESERVED TO LOSE HER! SHE DOESNT DESERVE SOMEONE LIKE HER!" I said now screaming at the top of my lungs.

"I love Dan, Brian. I used to love you, but you changed, and it wasn't for the better." Caitlin said.

She loved me.

I loved her.

"So you love this fool!" Brian argued.

"Yes." She responded.

"And you don't love me." Brian said.

"No, I don't." She said.

"WELL GUESS WHAT! IF I CANT HAVE YOU, NO ONE CAN!" Brian said.

In an instant, he quickly spun around and waved his gun in the air. He took a deep breathe and shot Caitlin straight in the chest making her fall back in her chair. I ran over to her practically lifeless body, tears falling down my face. I looked back to see Brian's face splattered with pure shock. He looked at me and then back down at Caitlin and ran away.

I kneeled down over Caitlin cupping her head in my hands. She looked up at me, her eyes practically lifeless. She grabbed my hand and held it tightly.

"I love you." She barely got the words out.

"I love you too." I said kissing her forehead and laying her back down.

She took one last breath and looked up at me clenching my hand tighter. She looked up at the sky and her practically lifeless body became lifeless. I sat there and cried over her body for what seemed like forever.

That was the day she left me.
