~ Hyunjin ~

I happened to not have any friends in this particular class, so when the teacher made everyone get up and stand at the front while he assigned seats, I did so without complaining.

While waiting, people were bustling in the small crowd at the front to get to their friends and chit chat. I got pushed into a guy who had been standing there silently with his head down and his arms wrapped tightly around his pack.

"Sorry," I mumbled as I looked him up and down. He seemed like he may be a new kid.

He simply nodded in return rather than verbally replying.

Not long after, I was called to a seat in the far corner of the classroom. This would be an asset later to be able to eat or sleep without being caught.

The desks were in groups of four and only one person was already there. The shy guy from earlier. "Hey, what's your name?"

"Felix Lee," he said in a quiet yet surprisingly deep voice.

"Oh, would you happen to have any relation to Lee Olivia?" Maybe I was wrong. I mean, half of everyone in this school has got to be either a Kim or Lee. Their names just both sounded more English than Korean.

"She's my baby sister." He brought his head up and I could see his face well now. He was honestly beautiful. Freckles were sprinkled over his cheeks and nose like stars in the night sky. His eyes were a deep black and he had full, soft-looking lips.

"Wow! You guys look really alike!"

He blushed at the same time I noticed a minuscule wince cross his expression. "We get that a lot. Thanks."

"I also didn't know she had a brother."

He stared blankly at me before shrugging and hanging his head back to his usual posture. I must've said something wrong.

For the rest of class, we spoke a bit more when prompted by the teacher to speak to our tablemates. Other than that, he didn't speak or look up from his desk much.

I let out a big sigh when my ass finally touched the lunchtable bench. My brain had severely been bombarded with things I didn't really need to know about my classes. I was already dreading the end of lunch before it even began.

"You look tired," Minho pointed out to me.

"You do too," Bangchan added.

"You all do," Seungmin summed up.

"Why do they have to explain so much about AP tests already as if they're not literally next year?" I rubbed my temples but it did nothing to help my minor headache.

"So when they repeat it later, you remember it better." Seungmin shrugged and then furiously looked around. "When are they gonna let us get lunch?"

We all shrugged but no response could be formed before a woman stood at the front of the room and cleared her throat over the microphone she held. "Attention, please." (Calling all Engenes.) She waited until the multitude was nearly silent before continuing. "Alright, there are going to be some changes to the lunch proceedings for those who were here last year but I will explain them for anyone who is new. You guys will be sitting in assigned seats according to your homeroom class. Everyone, please look around and go to the table your teacher is standing at."

My jaw fell and I could tell by the silence that followed that everyone thought it was outrageous as well. What's the purpose of us not sitting with friends?

"No way." Bangchan looked flabbergasted and annoyed. "What the fuck!?"

Seungmin grumbled and then stood. "This is so dumb. See you guys after school, I guess."

"Let's meet by the big tree later, okay?" I suggested as he nodded and walked off.

"I'd rather do anything other than sitting with those idiotic Freshmen." Minho trudged off, Bangchan following his lead to a nearby table. I unhappily got up and found the math teacher standing amidst a forming group. I joined them and rolled my eyes at those who were happy to sit with their classmates.

"I think everyone is here now. Please find those who sit in your group and sit beside them. Let's try to stick to the end of the table so the other classes have room."

I mentally considered starving over this because I would be stuck with someone who doesn't even speak. I'm a very talkative person and I expected lunch to at least be the one place I could talk someone's ear off.

"Hi, Felix." I sat on his left, our thighs being up against each other as the people on either side of us spread out too much and it resulted in us being squished.

"Hi." A brief pause. "You never told me your name."

"Oh, did I? Sorry, I didn't realize. I'm Hwang Hyunjin." I smiled softly at him in hopes that he'd open up to me and be just as talkative.

"Okay. Hi, Hyunjin." He smiled up at me.

My heart tweaked a bit at that. I liked him saying my name. It felt.. personal. Like it had more meaning than just a name. "How has your day been so far?"

"It's okay. They say a lot of stuff that's decently unnecessary and so I just have a headache now."

"Same! They really do!"

He flinched a bit and looked surprised by my energetic response.

"Well I think we can get food now. Want to go in the line with me?" I stood up and grabbed my phone from the table to put in my pocket.

"No, thank you. I'm not really hungry so I'll just skip lunch today." He avoided my eyes.

I worried a bit because I was familiar with worrying about eating and not wanting to but I didn't want to project my problems onto him, so I nodded and went to get my food.
