~ Jisung ~
I ran up and dove into Sam's hug. He wrapped his arms around me and held me tight.
"I missed you." I nuzzled into his chest.
"We see each other at school," he chuckled, patting my head.
"But we haven't hung out in like a month~"
With one final squeeze, he pulled away a bit to see my face. He smiled sweetly and squished my (face) cheeks. I blushed a bit but tried to ignore it.
You see, I still don't really have the happy ending. We're not dating. I heard about the fight from Jeongin and then Sam mentioned it when he came to speak to me. He told me that he wants time to focus on himself and fix some problems he has before diving into a relationship.
Reasonable request, of course. I wasn't even sad, because he then kissed me and told me he loves me, and that he's not able to show it properly now, but he will one day.
We've still been friends, sitting together at lunch and such. I often catch him looking at me like he does want to kiss me, but I let him off for it, 'cause I do the same thing. Been doing it for years.
"Is Jeongin coming today?"
He shook his head and looped his hand through mine to guide me to the living room. Butterflies erupted, but that can't be helped.
"Just us?" I looked him in the eyes hopefully. He nodded with the same look.
"Except Hyunjin. Him and his boyfriend are over right now, but obviously won't be hanging with us. They're in his room."
"Okay. We gonna watch a show?"
"Yup," he said, popping the 'p'. "What do you want to watch?"
After lots of thought, I remembered a movie I saw clips of on YouTube lately. It looked like it'd be worth a watch. "How about a new show called 'Soulmate'?"
He put it on, making sure it was the right one since lots of movies go by that title.
As it began, I got comfy by scooting impossibly close and cuddling into his side. He rested his arm around my waist, rubbing his thumb back and forth hypnotically.
About an hour in, I heard a door open and Hyunjin exited the hallway, his boyfriend Felix in tow.
They gave us weird looks since they don't really know what's going on between us, so I smiled and waved politely.
They returned the gesture, looking awkward and then heading out of sight and presumably into the kitchen.
"You on better terms with Hyunjin now?"
He let out a breath that tickled the hairs on the top of my head after pausing the TV. "I don't know. Maybe not. Since.. Uh, since I hurt him, we haven't really spoken. Usually I'll like be rude to him or he'll be annoying to me, but he kind of pretends I'm not there anymore.
"No more arguing, though. I think he's scared of me."
I nodded against his shoulder. "Have you apologized?"
He didn't respond, so I sat up to see his frown, as if he was caught. "You didn't!?"
He sighed unhappily. "I just.. I don't know how to. He hates me."
"Because you haven't apologized. Apologize. It doesn't matter if he accepts it, because that's rightfully his choice, but you need to put it out there."
He nodded. "I guess."
"Do it right now."
"What?!" He looked behind us towards their direction.
"You've waited long enough. No time like the present."
"But his boyfriend is over."
"I can occupy him. We'll talk. He seems nice enough."
Groaning, he sat up and looked down at me like I'm his mother forcing him to take responsibility for breaking the neighbor's window.
I joined him and we went to the couple. They were at the counter, Felix mixing something in a bowl and Hyunjin watching over his shoulder.
Seeing us, they jumped apart and glanced at each other in fear.
"Would it be a bother if I could talk to Hyunjin real quick? It's important. I promise I'm not gonna hurt y'all."
Hyunjin shook his head.
Sam frowned and nodded sadly. "Alright. I'll leave you be then."
"Hyun. Let him talk," I heard Felix whisper-yell to his lover.
He blinked long and tired, then told us to stop. "We'll talk, I guess. Without Felix?"
Sam nodded, so Felix came with me to sit at the couch.
I smiled at him. "What's up? I don't think we've ever spoken."
"Uh, yeah." He seemed to not know what to say.
"So how'd you two get together?"
He flinched a bit but shrugged. "We have class together and after a bit, he asked me on a date. Then we did a few and kissed, and figured it out from there."
I smiled in assurance. "That sounds nice."
"You dating anyone?"
He looked nervous, so before responding, I had to make a disclaimer. "Felix. I'm not gonna hurt you. You don't have to look so scared. You're safe."
He nodded skeptically.
"And no, I'm not dating anyone. I plan to soon. There's someone, but he's not ready yet."
"He?"
"Yeah. It's a guy."
"Hm. Okay."
I smiled at him and ruffled his hair. "How old are you? I'm curious if I'm older or you are."
"I was born 2000."
"Ooh. Same. What month?"
"September."
I gaped. "What date, 'cause I'm a September baby too?"
"Uh, the 15th."
My gape widened. "I'm not even kidding when I say I was born on the 14th. I'm literally older by a day!"
His mouth formed an O as well. "That's really cool!"
"We're twins!"
We high-fived excitedly and then lapsed into trivial conversation.
