~ Sam ~
I took Jisung right to the alcohol. I know that if I had alcohol in my system, I'd find it easier to ignore my rational thoughts and try to be the person he wants to hang out with. At least for tonight.
"But we just got here."
"Drink, Jisung. You'll like it. It'll also make you feel better." I handed him a red Solo cup full of the substance.
He looked up at me with concerned eyes before taking the cup to his lips and absolutely downing that drink. When he got the last drops, we looked back at me, this time with a goofy grin.
"Good job." I took my own alcohol and downed it. It burned as it went down. Ignoring it, I poured one more cup for us both. That should do.
I know for a fact that Jisung can't take alcohol very well. Maybe because he's short and skinny. I'm taller, so I'm not as lightweight.
"Drink up, babe." He nodded and did so, me following.
"Weirdo. You called me 'babe'." He made a grossed out face.
The sensation of being slapped across the face arose. It was my imagination, but I suddenly felt angry. Did I? That's.. so gay. What the fuck.
His eyes widened and he set his hand on my bicep. "I'm just joking. It's fine, Sam. Let's pretend you didn't, okay?" He spoke as if he was scared of me.
I looked down at him. He was failing to pull of an assuring smile. Fear. He's afraid of me.
"Are you scared of me?"
His eyes darted everywhere but towards mine. "No. Why would you ask that?"
"Do you want me here?"
"What? Of course I do. Come on. Let's just go into the main room." He pulled me and I blindly followed. I should leave.
We sat down on a couch pushed against the wall. He was positioned so close to me that our legs were not only touching, but squished against each other's tightly.
He didn't start any conversation. I didn't know what to say either.
"Isn't Jeongin supposed to be here?"
"Oh— Yeah. He should be here by now. I'll text him." He pulled his phone out and clicked on the contact named Innie🍞.
We're here. Where are you?
The reply popped up almost immediately.
You actually got him to come?! Also, we are about to arrive.
He rolled his eyes beside me.
👍
I chuckled at his plain answer. "You on good terms with him?"
"Yep. Especially since.. Uh.. Since you stopped hanging out with us. He was the only one I had left to rely on."
I nodded. "Let's go wait outside. It's hot in here."
He nodded back and wrapped his arm around mine, us walking together.
Jeongin was just arriving, walking towards the house from the sidewalk. "Hey, Sung!"
On his arm was a girl. I had no idea who she was, just that they looked close. Since when does he have a girlfriend? Does he have a sister I don't know about?
He looked over at me and slowly raised his eyebrows. "Sam."
I waved. "Jeongin." I cleared my thraot. "Who's this?"
She stood up taller and smiled. "I'm Lia Choi. And you're Sam? I've heard a lot about you." She reaches her hand out to shake.
I tentatively completed the gesture and smiled back. "No offense, but I haven't heard about you before."
Jeongin laughed heartily. "Yeah, 'cause I never mentioned her. We both kept to ourselves about it, but we've actually been dating for a long while."
My jaw dropped a little. What is this plot twist? Did Jisung know? I turned to him and he was just looking up at me with both humor and adoration written into his expression.
"You aren't surprised."
He nuzzled his side closer to mine. "Nope. He told me yesterday already. I was surprised. Really fucking surprised. It's old news now."
Lia reached out and shook Jisung's hand as well. "Jisung, is it?"
"Yep!"
"It's really nice to meet you!" She flipped her long, straight hair behind her shoulder.
Is it just me or is there favoritism being practiced here? She never said it was nice to meet me. I mean, I deserve it, but still. I'm trying. Maybe they'll forgive me one day. If I even try for longer than just today.
"Let's go inside," I offered. They followed me, and Jisung, in this case, since he was still attached to my arm.
Lia went off to go greet her friends momentarily, so it was just us three, like before.
"I'm gonna go look around real quick." Jeongin wasn't even trying to lie. It was obvious he's leaving to find where the drugs are being consumed. Many might not automatically assume he does stuff like that, but Jisung and I know him too well.
"I wanna come!" Jisung ran up to his best friend and they both turned to look back at me devilishly.
Jisung? I guess it's not abnormal that he's doing some drugs today.
I guess they were expecting me to join them, but I prefer alcohol. Drugs.. They terrify me in a way. My dad.. I'm not that sensitive to them, but enough not to do them.
"I'll chill here. Go get lit," I exclaimed in feign excitement. (I wrote this fucking sentence before they released the tracklist for 5 Star so get fucking wrecked!!! :)))
They sauntered off. Next time I see them, they'll probably be walking sideways.
