~ Hyunjin ~

I noticed Yeji standing nervously in front of some lockers, across from an unused classroom.

What's she doing?

A thought I had forgotten about for several days came back vividly. I had promised Ryujin I'd talk to Yeji about the situation. I can't believe I forgot.

"Hwang!" The name sounded weird coming out of my mouth, calling someone else, since it's my name too. I didn't want to address her by first name, though, because I didn't want her to think we were friendly.

Her head whipped in my direction, searching the sea of faces until she saw me looking at her.

I stood next to her and looked across and into the classroom window.

Yup. Ryujin and Yuna are in there. I can't see the actually scene, just Ryu's back elevated from sitting on the counter. And she looks very involved in some activity.

"Why are you watching them make out? It's kind of weird."

She looked away. "Who're you?"

"Ryu's friend."

"Oh."

I nodded and laid my arm around her shoulder. Maybe she needs to understand I just want to chat, not argue or scold her.

"So why're you watching?"

"Why do you care?"

"It's weird. And it's not fair to Ryu for you to be so pushy after breaking her heart."

She scoffed and stepped away a bit, my arm sliding back to my side.

"It's not your business. Really. So leave me the fuck alone." She walked down the hall, away from me.

I rolled my eyes and continued on to class. Maybe it's not the best idea for me to talk to her since I'm not involved in what's going on.

——

"Yep. It just went in one ear and out the other," I concluded after telling Ryujin about it at lunch.

Her jaw tensed and she nodded. "What a bitch."

"The offer to beat her up stands."

"Beating people up is never a good solution. Don't listen to him," I groaned, glaring lightly at Changbin.

He smiled annoyingly and continued eating his steak. Who brings a whole steak to school, you ask? Changbin. Changbin Seo does.

"He's right," Seungmin playfully agreed, loving looking for his boyfriend's reaction.

Yeah, we only just found out they're officially dating. Took long enough.

Changbin reached out and ruffled the younger's hair.

"You guys are such cute couples that it makes me feel lonely over here," Chae jokingly complained.

"Hey! I'm single too! You can't be lonely with me here!"

Chae looked skeptically at the only other girl in the room. "Yeah, but you're in Yuna's pants right now, so it doesn't count. And you have people pining over you."

"Yeji!? Bro. She doesn't count. I'd fully rather her not."

I shook my head at their banter and connected Felix and I's hands under the table, resting them on his thigh.

"You feeling better from yesterday?" I quietly asked.

He nodded, leaning closer to my side. "I just felt dysphoric since I was the only guy who couldn't take his shirt off. The movie helped me forget."

I hummed. "That's good. Just know that it honestly doesn't matter if you can go shirtless or not. You're perfectly valid either way."

He giggler happily and kissed my cheek.

"Gag," Changbin commented.

"Hey!" Seungmin kissed his boyfriend's cheek as well. "Stop being mean to HyunLix."

"HyunLix?" I questioned. Do they mean Felix and I?

"Yep. It's your ship name."

"We're literally dating. You can't ship people who are already sailing."

Seungmin shrugged. "I support, then. Better?"

I nodded and smiled.

——

"Sam?" I called right as I walked into the house. He hadn't been at school, as far as I knew.

I went to his room and cracked the door open after knocking with no response. He was a lump under the blankets on his bed, fast asleep.

We might be on good terms, but nobody likes people who wake them up. I decided to risk it anyway.

"Sam?" I sat beside him and gently shook his shoulder.

He groaned and peeked an eye open. "Hyunjin?"

"Yeah. Did you not go to school?"

He grunted in response. "I didn't mean to. I just slept in."

"Ohh. Well, that's fine. You were crying last night, so it's reasonable."

He looked away from me and sat up without my help. "Yeah."

"You have no reason to be embarrassed," I said with a small laugh at his behavior. "I balled my eyes out for weeks straight when dad left. It's just hitting you late."

He let out a huge sigh and nodded, swinging his feet out of bed. "I don't want to be like dad anymore. I'm going to try, okay? I'll try really hard. I'll try my best. Just please have patience with me. I'm a wreck."

I snorted and tucked his hair behind his ear. "Okay. I believe you."

He groaned and got all the way up, trudging out.

"Have you eaten?" I asked, following him.

"No."

"Sit down. I'll make something."

"But you can't cook."

"Neither can you," I replied with feign snark.

I pulled a bunch of ingredients together and then began. It was definitely a new dish, being introduced to the world. But it would probably taste good.

"Eat up, shawty." I slid the finished bowl over to him. It was a rice dish, mixed with other things, since the only reliable ingredient I know is: rice.

He scoffed. "I know we don't hate each other, but I will break your arm if you call me that again."

I smiled and laughed. "Sure."
