<Tris's POV>

Trying desperately to see through the thick smoke, I look around for my friends. I am assuming that the bang came from a bomb sent from the Erudite and Dauntless traitors. "Tobias!" I yell over the gunshots in the distance.

"Tris!" I whip my head in the direction of the voice. When I look left I see all my friends standing together with our few guns by their hips, minus Uriah who is leaning on Zeke's shoulder. I sprint to my friends. "It's the Erudite, they've got the Dauntless traitors fighting against us," Tobias explains.

"Where do we go?" Shauna asks with Hector behind her leg.

"We have to find somewhere to hide and these buildings are to obvious," I say. Tobias has a grave look on his face.

"The buildings are the only thing here, our only option is to fight until it's over," he says. We are all quiet for a moment until a gunshot barely misses me. Dozens of more shots follow causing all of us to separate and run different ways.

I end up in another alley. Cautiously, I peak my head around the corner of the alley to see if anyone is around. A feminine hand grasps my mouth and pulls me back. I try to scream, but no sound comes from my mouth. The person turns me around and I am met with Lynn who's hair is now in a bob. "Lynn?"

"No time to talk, I lost track of Christina, Will, and Marlene, not to mention Hector is out of my reach. We need to find everyone," she whispers frantically with a gun in her hand.

"We have Hector," I inform her.

"Who is with you?"

"Four, Uriah, Shauna, and Zeke, now Hector, I lost track of them," I tell her. She doesn't hesitate.

"We have to find everyone, there is a place over the giant bridge at the edge of the city, it's supposed to be safe, that's where we're heading, now come on," Lynn whispers to me. I run behind her as we manage to avoid any contact with Dauntless traitors by running elusively behind buildings.

I hear a grunt from behind me. Whipping my head around I see an exhausted Zeke carrying Uriah. Lynn notices them to and we go to him quickly. While taking Uriah from his arms and laying Uriah on the ground Lynn asks if Zeke saw anyone else.

"Shauna and Hector were with me for a while then when traitors got close I lost track of them," he explains through heavy breaths. Gun shots sound from in front of the building we are behind.

"Gun shots mean two people fighting which means our friends are in front of this building and Lynn says there is a safe place over the bridge so let's go," I say. Zeke picks Uriah up again and Lynn and I ready our guns as we reach the intimate battle. I see Christina, Will, and Marlene fighting off a group of traitors. We rush to their aid and I go up behind the soldiers and hit the back of their heads with the butt of my gun; Lynn does the same.

"Tris!" Christina shouts hugging me with one arm.

"No time for hugs we still have to find Four, Shauna, and Hector," I say quickly. A memory must spark in Wills head because he speaks right after me.

"I saw Shauna and Hector a few blocks from here, I haven't seen Four though," Will informs us. My heart drops. What if we can't find Tobias? I take my mind off of that as our group runs in the direction Will said he saw Shauna and Hector run.

After a while of sprinting I hear a familiar yell from behind us. "Run! Don't stop! They're about to bomb everything!" The voice yells. I match the voice to Tobias. I hesitate for a moment as a watch a helicopter fly high above Tobias and a little behind him. "Tris run!" He yells. I realize I was standing in place longer than I thought. The rest of he group is far ahead of me and have reached Shauna and Hector. Tobias is even near me now.

He simultaneously grabs my hand and runs from the helicopter which now has two more behind it. I see the bombs drop as we run. There is a ear splitting bang and the ground shakes and cracks along with the crumbling of buildings. Tobias and I are thrown through air by the force, then hit the ground with a crack. The snow practical freezes my face to it as rocks, some small some large, hit my back. The pain in my back is excruciating and my head is pounding. I wait for the world to go black, for me to die, but for some reason I survived the impact and someone is now plucking me from the snow and running me forward.

<Tobias's POV>

As I carry Tris in my arms I start to run faster in fear that more bombs with drop. Finally I make it to the rest of the group. "Where do we go?" I ask nervously with Tris still breathing slowly in my arms.

"Across the bridge," Lynn informs me.

"That will take two days in our condition," Zeke complains.

"Then I suggest we start moving," Marlene says annoyed. We slowly get up and begin to walk away from where battle occurred moments ago. As we walk I realize there is still a quiet ringing in my ear from when the bombs went off. It's like one of those unbearable itches you just can't scratch and it's starting to give me a headache.

-----------------------

After hours of walking we are all exhausted, especially Zeke and I since we have been carrying Tris and Uriah. Christina rummages through our bags to find blankets as we walk into the remnants of an old building. Once Christina has separated the blankets among us I finally place Tris down on the blanket carefully. Zeke does the same to Uriah who passed out from putting to much exertion on his leg. Marlene lays next to Uriah's unconscious form and strokes his jaw as if it can somehow comfort him. Lynn takes Hector and makes him lay near her. Zeke lays next to Shauna, Christina and Will lay facing each other and I find a spot next to Tris. As we all go quiet and are left with the quiet sounds of each other's breathing I stare more intently at Tris's face. Short hairs that don't make it into her ponytail trail gently across her eyes in a blonde stream. Her long eyelashes are tangled and her eyes remain closed. As she sleeps her chest rises and falls slowly and the sound of her breathing puts me to sleep.
