Chapter 2.8
"So, what's the plan Silver?" Bates asked. The party went on all throughout the night, and the entire village was quiet this morning as everyone was catching up on peaceful sleep. I had fallen asleep shortly after Bates had left me on the roof. When I woke up, I saw that I was curled up next to Adonis with my hood pulled far enough up to cover my face while Bates slept calmly a couple feet away. I thought it was odd at first when I realized there were a lot of people fast asleep in the market square. Everyone was past out drunk or so exhausted that they couldn't even get back to their houses. Bates woke up shortly after me, and now we were discussing our trip to Heathen.
I wouldn't consider it a trip. We're not exactly going to Heathen to go sightseeing.
I know that. I snapped.
"Well, why don't we just kind of do what we did last time?" I said. Bates rolled his eyes.
"This is why I'm the General," he said and whipped out a tattered piece of paper. He unfolded it, and I realized that it was a map of Heathen and the surrounding forest. "I don't want all of our plans to involve me almost being strung up. I don't have many friends in Heathen that I can count on to chicken out."
"Then what do you suggest General Bates?" I muttered.
"Love it. General Bates. Now, we while I said I don't have many friends in Heathen, I do have a couple. Plus a mighty Dragon that would definitely be on our side. Now, just outside the town, there is a series of underground caves not too far away. We can hide out there, and I should be able to contact Cain. Once I talk to him, I should be able to form a more accurate plan."
Ask him what the plan now is. Adonis said.
"Adonis wants to know what the tentative plan is."
"Well, I was thinking that we go in and just take out the Dragons and Riders and stuff."
"Is that seriously the plan, oh great General Bates? That was literally my plan that you said was awful!"
"Because your plan involved me almost hanging! I got rid of that part, so it's a much better plan for me!" I groaned, and Adonis laughed. "Just wait though! Once I can talk to Cain, I hash out the details like when the guards do rounds and stuff and if the people will cooperate. It's a two-man operation, and right now, we only have one: me. We need Cain."
"Okay. So the first part of our plan is to get to the caves. Part two is you talking with Cain. Part three is making the rest of the plan."
"Exactly."
"So when do we leave?"
"It's half a days ride by horse, so if we leave now, we should be there shortly after noon."
Then what do I do? Adonis asked.
Walk with us.
Walking is boring.
I'm not going to let you fly during the day. You'll be spotted.
You suck Val.
I know you love me.
"Okay. Get your horse then. I just have to get my things, and then we can head out."
"I already got them from old man Bard's house last night. Packed them in your Dragon's saddles. I have the horses ready by my house. Let's go Silver!" He grabbed my hand and pulled me up. I yelped as he dragged me back to house with Adonis carefully stepping around people to follow us. He led me behind his house where two brown horses stood saddled and tied to a post in the back yard. "You'll take Korra, and I'll take Bates Junior."
