Chapter 10

The entire Academy was buzzing with excitement once everyone had returned especially with the return of the Five.  Everyone who had remained at the Academy were asking all of the Advanced Swords and Defense students what had happened.  Those who couldn't hear asked their friends, and soon the entire Academy knew what had happened.

When Mason's group reached the rouge Riders, the other two graduates, Hans and Christina, were struggling to hold back the others.  They had managed to take down two of the Riders, so there were only eight, but it was hard for them to keep them from advancing.  They had almost reached Willowstown when Mason's group had arrived.

Apparently, the fight was over in a few minutes.  Jericho and Mason were able to take on three at once, and even with the other Riders' advanced training, he defeated them without breaking a sweat.  What surprised me was that apparently Karel and Frey had taken on two at once with barely any trouble as well.  Grace, Austin, and Evan each took care of one of the other Riders.  By the time the other group had arrived, those who were still alive had been chased out of the valley.  The reason that it had taken so long was that the second group had to take care of Hans, Christina, and their Dragons.  I was able to catch a glimpse of the pair, and they were covered in bandages and looked worn.  Their Dragons looked just as tired.

Hans and Christina as well as Stefan were led into the Academy to be treated in the infirmary.  I was put in charge of making sure that their Dragons were comfortable and looked after.  I led the three Dragons to the stables, and I put some fresh hay in three of the stalls.  They would have to share a stall because it was starting to get tight in our stables, and I figured that the Dragons would appreciate being in front where there was a breeze instead of in the damp back.  Plus, it would be easier for the medics to look at the Dragons out in the front instead of going into the back.

The other students and Dragons continuously passed by as they set away their battle gear.  Everyone was relieved that everyone was okay.  I took off the armor of the three Dragons in front of me.  Stefan and Hans' Dragons were both a beige color while Christina's Dragon was a light pink color.  I carefully removed the armor making sure that I didn't bump against any other cuts or bruises.

After their armor was placed in a pile in the corner of the stall, I grabbed a bucket full of water and a rag.  I began gently cleaning out the cuts.  I had just finished washing off Stefan's Dragon when five Dragon medics came in with bags of supplies.  They sent me away quickly, so they could get to work.  Stefan's Dragon nuzzled my shoulder before I left, and I gave him a quick pat on the head before leaving.

It was just about time for lunch when I finished, so I washed off my hands and headed to the mess hall.  I wasn't really hungry since I hadn't really done anything today, but I still grabbed a roll and headed to my room.  By the time I got there, Jacey and Aiden were already inside eating their lunch.

"I don't recall inviting you two into my room," I joked.  I set my bag down next to my trunk and sat down at my desk.  Jacey and Aiden hogged the bed.

"So, what are we supposed to do today since Viktor cancelled classes and placed us under lock down?"

"Maybe you could use this time to study for Remy's test.  We all know that you won't try until the night before."

"But I don't have my book," Jacey groaned.

"We're in the same class dummy.  Here," I threw her the book off of my desk.  I pulled my bag to me and pulled out my book on crystals for my independent study.  I cracked it open to the page that I left off at.  Aiden grabbed one of the books that I had left of my bedside table to read.  It was one that Viktor had given me at the beginning of the summer that had a bunch of cool sword drills in it.  After a couple of minutes of silence, Jacey let out a loud groan.
