Chapter 2.12
"This is a terrible idea," I said to myself.
If it's so awful why didn't you speak up last night?
"I don't really know. I'm really regretting not saying anything. We're all going to get killed."
I don't think the plan is that bad.
"That's because you're just happy that you only have to go against the lone female Dragon instead of the bulky mountain."
True, but remember. I'm only a young Dragon; no more than a Hatchling compared to the others. They can't expect me to tussle with the mountain and make it out unharmed.
"I don't think anyone can tussle with the mountain and make it out unharmed. Did you see the size of him?"
Obviously. It was hard to miss him as he waddled around the town. He makes Hunter look like a twig.
"Great. So while you get to have fun with the pretty green Dragon, I get to go up against her mountain of a Rider."
Hey. It's better than going up against Wrath. He'd just have to step on you. At least the Baron has to catch you first. Remember what Liam said. Speed is that man's downfall.
"Let's just hope they don't take this into the air. We'll lose right away if we have to fight while flying."
Which is why we have to split them up. If they don't have a chance to get together, then they can't fight in the air. I smiled.
"You say that to sound smart, but I know it was Bates who said everything last night."
So what? As long as I rephrase it it's still my words. I laughed and nudged his side.
"This is going to be more difficult than in Pernsville. At least there we didn't have to worry about another Dragon and Rider showing up."
But this time we also have allies to watch our backs. Bates doesn't seem like much of a fighter, but Liam is strong. I can feel it coming from him. I bet his Dragon is no slouch either. You don't become a sword master's apprentice just for your good looks. I blushed and Adonis laughed. I caught you looking at him last night.
"He wasn't that bad looking in the dark."
I agree, but he's still no me.
"I'm glad for that. I don't want to date a Dragon, especially a Dragon with as many problems as you." Adonis playfully nudged me back. "Besides, Liam seems nice, but we just met. I have no idea what he is actually like. And now is definitely not the time to be thinking about dating."
So I guess you're stuck with me.
"Forever and always." I looked up into the gray sky that looked like it would storm at any moment. "Why does it always rain right as we are supposed to fight?"
Hey, it's good luck. So what if it rains? You beat Wilhelm in the rain; you can beat Baron in the rain. He nuzzled my cheek and looked back at Heathen for the signal. Bates was somewhere almost across from us on the other side of Heathen. Cain had passed by us a few minutes ago and was making his way to Bates. Once they reunited, Bates would slip in with Cain as he made his way back into Heathen and into the stables where Amber and Wrath were situated. Envy had gate duty at the moment with Baron, so Bates would have to be careful on the way in. Once they made it into the stables, Amber would kick out one of the supporting beams of the Dragon stables causing it to collapse. Once we saw that, Adonis and I would have to intercept Baron and Envy. Both our group and the other group had to keep our targets separated. If they united then the other group was screwed. Especially if Wrath got by Amber and Cain. There's no way Adonis would be able to take on Wrath and Envy.
