Chapter 13
The passage that Headmaster had led me to went down in the dark for a while before it started to slope upwards. I kept one hand in front of me as I jogged forwards because I did not want to run into any walls. My skin was still sore and felt tight whenever I moved, and running head first into a wall would just make it so much worse. After a while, I felt a breeze, and soon I was standing at the base of the Academy looking at the forest in front of me.
"Goodbye," I said looking back up at the building. Despite the rough times I had gone through at the Academy, it was the only home that I had ever known, and it pained me to leave it. I wouldn't miss those five who made my life a living nightmare, but all of my friends and livelyhood resided in that large stone building. I turned my back on it for the last time and ran towards the woods.

"So Mason, what's the plan?" Evan asked. Mason was pacing along the roof of the Academy while the rest of us sat around him. I had to admit, I was missing Austin. He was an idiot just like Evan, but at least when he was around Evan didn't bother me as much. Maybe I would start using my abilities to help keep him calmer. His loud annoying personality would get old really fast if he was around me all of the time.
"We wait. In three days, we go hunting," Mason said and looked back over the edge of the Academy. "We have to assume that the Headmaster is helping her someway, so one of us is going to have to keep watch over him at all time."
"Finding her without a Dragon is going to be pretty rough. She could be anywhere," Karel said absent mindedly. I looked over to him. He was sitting with his legs dangling over the roof and looking out over the area surrounding the Academy. I had to resist the urge to groan. I was stuck with a bunch of people who were nothing like me. Well, Mason I could handle. Evan was just, ugh. And Karel. Karel was just so weird. He wouldn't open up to anyone. I was beginning to wonder why I even hang out with these losers. Evan looked just about to say something when I suddenly got a massive headache.
"Crap," I heard Mason muttered as he went to a knee with a headache probably just as bad as mine. Evan let out a bunch of curses as he flopped to the ground, and even normally stoic Karel winced in pain.
Good work you four. It took Austin's death to make it work, but now you have free reign to hunt for Valerie.
"Yes, we were wondering what we should do now," Mason said out loud.
She has three days to hide like the rat she is. Once three days are up, find her. Taunt her, and then lead her to me. I will be in my normal spot. I want her there within ten days.
"Got it. What about the Headmaster?" Mason asked.
Watch him. He's a dangerous opponent. When the time comes, he's the first who needs to be eliminated.
The headache suddenly went away, and I knew that He was gone. I sighed in relief.
"He gives me the chills," I said and looked around. Evan nodded while Mason and Karel were silent.
"Ten days. We need to bring her to Him in ten days."
"Until then, let's have fun with the little twerp. I don't know why He wants her so badly, but I can't wait to play with her!" Evan shouted. I smiled. Oh yeah. It's always fun to play with someone who wants to fight back. I wanted to show Valerie that no matter how hard she trained, there's nothing that can match a real Rider.
