Damon and I entered the Great Hall as I spotted Poppy who was seated with Natty at the Gryffindor table. "Come, let me introduce you to my friends." I pulled him along by his arm.
As soon as Poppy noticed me she jumped up to embrace me. "Y/N, it's great to see you!" When she pulled away she turned to Damon then back to me, smiling. "And who is this?"
He introduced himself and they shook hands. We proceeded to walk around the end of the table and took our seats across from Poppy and Natty with our backs to the wall. We began talking about our summers when a thought crept through my mind. "Might I ask you lot a question?"
They nodded. "Of course you can, Y/N." Poppy replied.
I lowered my voice hoping only they could hear. "What do I smell like?" I don't normally wear perfume besides to social events so I really wasn't sure.
Poppy and Natty looked at each other while Damon took no time to answer. "I'd say Strawberries." I looked at the girls who said they agreed, adding in that they also smelled Lavender. "I knew there was more to it," he said.
My head was reeling with what that meant, so many people in Potions class had that as their answer when Sharp asked what they smelled from the Amortentia. Sebastian included. The only explanation was that he knew what the potion was and said it to get a reaction out of me. I could feel myself getting angry about it when I heard the door to the Great Hall slam shut and was transported out of my thoughts.
I glanced up to see Sebastian enter with one arm around the waist of Imelda Reyes. He scanned the room and right as he landed his eyes on mine his mouth turned to a smirk. I looked back down at my plate but saw the two had taken a seat facing us at the Slytherin table, smirk still plastered on his smug face.
"Y/N?" Natty asked. "Are you listening? Why did you ask what you smell like?"
"Right, sorry." I shook my head and looked back to my friends. "Sharp played a cruel joke with Amortentia."
They gasped and went on about how wrong that was of him, but were interrupted when a loud yell broke out in the Hall.
"Are you even listening to anything I have to say, Sebastian?" The voice was from Imelda. When he didn't answer her right away she stood up from next to him, "Go snog her then since you just can't take your eyes off of her." She stomped her way out of the Hall. Sebastian stayed in his seat, unfazed.
"What was that about?" Poppy asked, turning around to see what happened. I didn't stop her, but Natty did as she placed a hand on her shoulder. Poppy stopped where she was and turned back to us, confused.
"Trouble in paradise," I laughed. "Nothing new for Sebastian Sallow." His name rolled off my tongue with more venom than I had intended, which made my stomach churn.
Damon threw his arm around my shoulder, I looked at him to see what he was doing and he flashed a smile, leaning into me and whispering, "it's true you know, he hasn't taken his eyes off you. I'm not sure what happened between you two, but it's evident he's a fool."
I covered my mouth as I laughed before whispering back, "a fool indeed." He smiled before pulling away, still leaving his arm on me. I looked up to catch Sebastian giving me a death glare. This time I was the one with the smirk. He stood up and I was surprised to see him seemingly headed over to our table. My smirk fell as I rose from my seat, clearing my throat.
"Right, well. I'm off. I'll see you all later." I tried to make my way to the floo powder station as cooly as possible, but when I saw Sebastian turn to follow me I practically started running. As soon as I got there I quietly stated I'd like to go to the Room of Requirement and was happily teleported away.
