Sebastian's POV

I anxiously watched Y/N command the room as she formulated a plan to deal with Alaric in the Repository. I struggled to hold myself back as all I wanted to do was take her and Ominis by their hands and apparate anywhere but here. My entire body shook as I tried to hold back my tears.

We were so close, why wasn't all she had done enough to earn her escape? She had saved so many lives so many times, yet she wasn't allowed the same- she wasn't allowed to escape...to be saved. Why?

"Who here has mastered apparation?" Y/N asked the group of students surrounding her.

Hands shot up, of course including me and Ominis. She selected a few, assigning them a partner and giving them instructions on which Professor to apparate to before turning to me.

"Sebastian, I'll need you to apparate me into the Repository." She bit her lip, knowing she was asking a lot of me to leave her there alone.

I knew if I refused she would just have someone else do it so I reluctantly agreed, nodding as tears spilled from my eyes.

She looked away, now staring into the Charm that held the view of the Repository. "You get there, touch them, get out. Your partner will cover you."

"What about Alaric and the Repository?" Damon asked.

"Leave that to me." She continued to watch the Charm carefully as she spoke.

Ominis and I were crying still, though I did my best to try and hold it back. Ominis reached out to her, taking her hand and begging her to stay, although we both knew she wouldn't. She couldn't. I felt my heart break as she shook her head lightly and kissed Ominis, running a hand through his hair.

"I love you, Ominis." Her voice was barely above a whisper. He choked on his tears as she turned her focus back to the charm. Only Professor Weasley was still standing.

"You better come back to us, Y/N." I begged, my voice barely working.

"I promise." She gave me a small smile and nodded before turning back to the Charm. "We need to go now, Sebastian." She pointed to a place out of sight of Alaric, just to his left. "Take me there."

I could hardly hear her as my heartbeat thudded so hard I thought it might burst my eardrums.

She looked up to our peers. "Once his attention is on me you get the Professors out." Everyone nodded as they tried to hide their sadness at the situation.

Professor Weasley went down and Y/N grabbed my shaking hand, giving it a squeeze. Tears streamed down my face as the classroom around us was replaced by the Repository. She released my hand, getting ready to interject the fight and it took everything in me to not grab her and take her to safety. I knew she would never forgive me.

"I hope you weren't the last defense." Alaric laughed at Professor Weasley who was crumpled on the floor, holding her wounded stomach. "Avada Kedavra!"

I reached my hand out to grab her but was a second to late as my hand faded through the white trail that followed as she appeared in front of Weasley. I screamed and began running to her as the curse was about to hit her head on.

No! No, no, no!

"No." She looked up to Alaric, making eye contact with him. "I am." Time slowed as I watched her hair fly around her face wildly from the force of catching the unforgivable curse in her palms.

I stared at her in disbelief.

She caught it?

No, that wasn't possible. Was I imagining it? I rubbed my eyes quickly fully expecting to see her dead body laying on the ground as I opened my eyes, but I was met with the image of her throwing a swirling green ball of fog back at Alaric. Debris filled the room of the Repository as the ball hit the rock wall, barely missing him.
