Class the next day was uneventful, just more of first day back catching up, which I was incredibly thankful for. The day flew by and before I knew it, it was time to meet Samuel and Sebastian in the library to finish our Herbology project.
I was about to head over when Garreth spotted me and asked if he could join me on my walk. I didn't see the harm so I agreed and we were off.
"Where are you off to after our walk?" I asked him as we were almost to the library.
"I might stay at the library. We've barely been back and I already swear I'm drowning in work." He scratched the back of his neck.
I laughed and said I felt the same. "I shouldn't be long. Maybe I'll scurry over to you before I go off to bed."
He smiled and opened the door for me. "Well that would certainly make studying worth it."
"Maybe I will then," I scanned the room for Sam or Sebastian and found Sebastian alone in the corner. "Right, I found my group. I'll see you soon." I gave Garreth a quick hug before going to join him. I shook the nerves off as I approached.
"No Sam yet?" I asked, sitting and opening my notes.
"Not yet it appears," Sebastian replied, his face seemed to brighten when he saw me.
He seemed more friendly today and I had hope this would go better than last time. "Hopefully he hasn't forgotten." I shrugged.
Silence took us over and I rested my head on my hand and played with my pencil while we waited.
"So... How's it going?" Sebastian asked, mimicking my position and facing me.
I looked at him slightly confused that he was making idle chit chat with me and cleared my throat hoping that would be an excuse for not answering right away.
"Good, just another long day. You?" I continued with my pencil.
"Better now." He smiled slightly.
"Wha-" I began asking as Sam ran over to us, interrupting me.
"Sorry, sorry!" He huffed, taking the seat on my other side.
I laughed at the sight of him being so panicked over being only a few minutes late. "It's no problem. We just got here."
He pulled his notes out and nodded as he tried to catch his breath.
We each went over our assigned parts, if someone noticed we'd forgotten something we'd scribble it down and whoever was next would then go. All that was left now was to decide our order for the presentation.
"I think we need to start with Y/N. We know she'll be able to keep everyone engaged." Sam said, his eyes trailing slightly down from my face.
I shifted in my seat uncomfortably and cleared my throat, "Excu-"
"And why's that exactly?" Sebastian interrupted me and raised an eyebrow.
"I just think her..topic is most interesting," Sam shrugged.
"I'm sure you wouldn't be undressing her with your eyes if that was all you meant." Sebastian was clearly getting worked up.
"I really don't know what you're talking about." Sam laughed.
I joined Sam's laughter with my own, earning weird looks from both boys, and once I had their attention I dropped my smile. I leaned in closer to Sam who had a flicker of hope of what was about to happen for him before I lowered my voice. "Sam, you could be the last man on Earth and I still wouldn't want you." I patted his shoulder before standing up.
