Give me a chance (Mario & Bowser)

(What if the big bad doesn't want to be "big and bad" all the time)

"EVERYBODY HIDE!!"

The mushroom kingdom was filled with chaos. Toads were screaming their lungs out and running aimlessly. Some hid in their houses, some in the bushes, some behind trees, all because of the huge menacing airship that they knew all too well approaching Peach's castle.

Mario and Luigi were already at the castle with Toadsworth. Peach had already been evacuated and hidden to a safer place so she wouldn't have a chance at being kidnapped.

After the airship stopped near Peach's castle, Bowser jumped off of it. When he landed a big earthquake rippled through out the mushroom kingdom. Toadsworth grabbed unto Luigi for balance. Bowser stared at Mario menacingly but Mario wasn't fazed one bit, glaring back at him.

"I thought you would be here" Bowser said.

"What do you want Bowser?" Mario replied, both Mario and Luigi got into a fighting stance.

Bowser just looked at Mario for a while, then he smiled, then he laughed hysterically. The three of them were very confused.

"AHAHAHA, don't get your mustache in a knot, Mario" Bowser said, as he ruffled the smaller brothers hair, much to his displeasure. "I'm just here to have a little fun with you".

"F-Fun? So your saying your not here to kidnap the princess?" Luigi said, still in awe at what he was hearing.

"Yeah it was boring in my castle. There's no one I can hang out with that isn't one of my hopeless minions and..." Bowser looked away sheepishly "You were the only one I knew that could give me a chance".

Mario looked at Bowser wide eyed "Well-"

"As if we would believe YOU of all creatures" Toadsworth said, stepping up to the giant koopa "Why if I could I would wack you with my ol' cane myself-"

"Woah, woah, woah" Mario said, as he pulled Toadsworth back " Now lets calm down"

"Master Mario, Master Luigi, your not actually thinking of TRUSTING this disgusting tyrant"

"W-Well to be fair" Luigi said butting in "He doesn't look like he's trying to do anything". They all looked at Bowser who was impatiently waiting for their conversation to end.

"Luigi's right. Plus this is a good chance to get through to his head, convert him to the good side y'know " It was a lofty goal, one Mario even doubted a little but if Bowser had been so willing to have fun with him maybe they had a chance. "Plus, Luigi will be here, just in case Bowser has any ideas". Luigi nodded.

Toadsworth sighed "Alright Master Mario, I trust that you understand what your doing" Toadsworth nodded before walking into the castle with Luigi.

Mario looked over at Bowser who was now picking at his teeth. He knew it would be a long day but he didn't want to throw away this moment.

Mario walked over to Bowser "So what do you want to do today?"

"I know!" Bowser said as the walked over to an open field "We can play "think fast""!

""Think fast"? Never heard of it".

"Well obviously" He said "Its a game exclusively played in MY kingdom"

That peaked Mario's interest. He was always interested in new culture's that were different from his own back in New Donk City so this could be fun. "How do you play"?

"Glad you asked, basically you chuck a rock towards each other and try to catch it and if you get hit you have to wear a hat that say says "doofus" on it BWAHAHA!" Bowser roared.

"...oh" suddenly learning about new cultures wasn't as interesting as it was a few seconds ago.

"Yeah I was a pro at it back then. Never got hit. Was hilarious when my friends had to wear the hat though." Bowser gloated.

"Err that's an... interesting suggestion Bowser but don't you think that its not entirely appropriate"?

"Yeah your right" Bowser sighed "there probably isn't a big enough rock around that we could throw anyways"

"How about we just play catch with a regular ball" Mario offered.

"Nah I tried before and the ball would always pop because of my spikes" Bowser motioned to basically his entire body.

"You got a good point"

Bowser and Mario stood there for a couple minutes thinking of a game they could both play.

"You ever played tag" Mario asked.

"Yeah, duh, it's the most universal game ever but I mean we can't play that. I would catch up to you way too fast" Bowser smirked.

"Is that a challenge?" Mario asked, also smirking.

"Maybe" Bowser retorted before swiping at Mario, planning to catch him off guard but Mario had back flipped away from him.

"Well come and catch me" he yelled back.

Bowser grinned as he chased after Mario. Today wasn't going to be so bad after all

Bowser and Mario both collapsed on the ground, breathing heavily and sweating. Surprisingly the king of the koppa's was really fast.

After regaining some strength they walked over to a small cliff to sit down and enjoy the summer breeze. The sunset was just beginning and it was only then when Mario realized just how long they had been out there.

"Hey Mario, thanks for letting me hang. It feels nice to just get along with people and not be in a fight for once".

"No worries Bowser" Mario said, giving him a kind smile "Y'know you don't have to be so evil all the time. I'm sure people would appreciate you more if you were just nicer. I mean you're a real likable guy when you aren't tearing down the place".

Bowser chuckled "I'll think about it. However, messing with you is just to much fun so I won't make any promises" Bowser said, playfully punching Mario in the arm, causing Mario to also laugh "Even when you lose all the time"?

Bowser rolled his eyes "I like everything EXCEPT that part" he said, still with a grin on his face. Suddenly they saw a clown car approaching them.

"Welp that's my ride" Bowser got up from the edge of the cliff. "See ya later, loser" Bowser laughed as he jumped into the clown car and flew away. Mario just waved until Bowser and his car were out of sight. Mario didn't know if he was successful or not with his mission to convert Bowser to the good side but he couldn't be happier to make a new friend.

And it was Bowser of all people.

There's my first commission. Hope the person who requested it likes it. It was a very cute concept so I really enjoyed writing it.
