Shelter in the cave (Mario & Bowser jr.)

(Mario and Junior are stuck in a cave after another storm by Bowser traps them in. What will they learn about each other while in there? During Bowser's fury, obviously)

It was a dark stormy night. At least, Bowser jr thought it was. With all of dad's tantrums it became harder and harder to know if it was day or night, sunny or stormy. It didn't help that dad was up tonight wreaking havoc.

*CRASH* *ROAR*

Bowser jr yelped and hid in his shell. Oh why did he have to paint on his dad's face.

They could have calmed dad down easily. All they needed was a cat shine, but Bowser jr and Mario had gotten tired and decided to go into a nearby cave and try to get a good nights sleep.

Unfortunately he was very much awake. Bowser jr looked at Mario, who was cuddled up like a cat and fast asleep. Weirdo. He slept through this storm as if he was used to the chaos.

*STRIKE*

Bowser jr hid deeper into his shell. Thunderstorms. He hated thunderstorms.

"Come on Junior. Your a big boy now! You shouldn't be scared of thunderstorms" he slowly poked his head out.

*STRIKE*

Nope. Bowser jr shivered as he retreated back into his shell.

"Are you okay there?"

Oh great.

"I'm fine. Now leave me alone!"

Bowser jr closed his eyes hoping that there was a chance that he would fall asleep. Unfortunately the weather wouldn't allow it. The air was cold, the rain was loud, and his dad's roars took away any chance for sleep. It was no use.

Suddenly Bowser jr felt himself being picked up by his shell. "Hey!" Bowser jr popped out of his shell only to find Mario taking him deeper in the cave. "Let me go! What are you doing!?"

"I'm trying to help you out" Mario said, calmly. He was too tired too lecture him about anything. He didn't even know why he brought the kid with him. "Your not going to get any sleep if you lay next to the thing your scared of"

"I'M NOT SCARED!" Bowser jr defended himself. Mario placed the little koopa prince on the ground. "I didn't ask for your help. Besides, I don't like it over here on this side of the cave, its too dark and cold" Bowser jr huffed.

Mario looked out to the entrance of the cave. "Stay here alright" he trotted towards the entrance.

"Hey where are you going? Don't leave me" he grabbed Mario by the tail.

"Ill be back" Mario said exhausted.

"B-But I'm..." Bowser jr didn't finish his sentence. He didn't want to show his enemy any weaknesses.

Mario paused for a second. "I'll be back" Mario repeated, this time in a more reassuring voice. He trotted towards the entrance once more.

As Mario went further and further away, Bowser jr became more aware that he was trapped. In the dark. Alone. Bowser jr quickly went back in his shell. All the scary stories his friends would tell was now all coming back to him. He could just run out but then he would be in the rain and he couldn't handle the thunder. The young koopa started to whimper.

Then he heard something fall right in front of him. He jumped and bumped his head on a wall. When he looked up he saw that it was only Mario, now with the fire flower powerup instead of the cat suit.

"Mario? You didn't abandon me?"

"Why would I abandon you?" Mario said in genuine confusion.

"I don't know. Considering all the stories papa tells about you, it's just something I would think you would do"
