Back at school it was the morning break, and everyone had just met and sat down at their usual place. Lenka glanced around the group as he arrived.
"Has anyone seen Morgan today?" He asked while trying not to sound too worried.
"Nope," Steve replied first. Then a few of the others shook their heads and gave variations of 'no.'
"Oh..." he mumbled, then pulled out his cell phone to message her again.
"Maybe you left her feeling too tired after last night, ay?" Steve uttered cheekily and nudged him as he took his seat. Lenka shook his head.
"We didn't even do that. Besides, she told me last night that she'd be here."
"When's the last time you saw her?" Steve enquired to see the worried look on his buddy's face grow as he glanced back up at him.
"I walked her to the corner of my street last night at about nine..."
"Ah, so she walked off into the darkness alone," Steve concluded. "That's not good."
Morgan glanced up as she heard a buzzing sound coming from the other side of the room and quickly sat up, recognising the sound as a text message on her phone. She climbed off the bed and ran towards the cabinet, but the chain stopped her about seven feet from it. She peered at the cabinet specifically, seeing it was made of glass. Then she quickly peered around to find something to try smash it with. She ran over to the side-table and grabbed the lamp, but it wouldn't budge, with it being fastened to the tabletop. She bent over to peer down the back of the table to see the side table was also bolted to the floor and the lamps cord was fastened to the wall socket.
Morgan then glanced around again and noticed the dresser. It had four big draws and three smaller ones in a row at the top. She rushed over and tugged at one of the smaller draws, but it only came out so far before jamming. She stopped pulling after realising it wasn't doing anything.
"Fuck! He's really thought about this..." she uttered as all his customising of the room was exhausting her options.
"The straightener," she thought of something else possibly heavy enough to shatter glass. She then pushed open the bathroom door again and found the hair straightener, then walked back out towards the cabinet with it. She got as close to the cabinet as she could, then threw the hair straightener hard at the door of the cabinet. Morgan turned her back and covered her face, expecting glass to fly everywhere but all she heard was a knock and a thud. The glass was still intact with no damage at all.
"That should have done it..." she muttered to herself. Feeling puzzled, she then laid on the floor and stretched out to reach the cord and pull it back, then stood up again and prepared herself for a second try. Morgan threw it again, but this time she watched the straightener hit the centre of the glass head on.
"Fortified fucking glass?" She yelled her conclusion, then gave up on her fleetingly brilliant idea and reached for the hair straightener again to put it back where she found it. Morgan once again walked back to the bed and sat down, feeling very agitated and defeated. The coffee and pancakes then caught her eye. After taking a bite out of one of the pancakes, she discovered they were no longer hot, and neither was the coffee, but Morgan really didn't care. Coffee was coffee.
At lunchtime Lenka was really beginning to get worried. With still no reply from Morgan, he ran to the spot in hopes she'd be there but only found Ferrie.
"Wow, you can run!" She exclaimed, impressed at how fast he had been moving. He sighed and took the few last steps over to sit beside her.
"She's not here, and she hasn't replied to the messages I sent hours ago..."
