Morgan awoke early the next morning, feeling eager and ready to talk to Ferrie. Most of the emotion from the previous day had dwindled away and she nearly felt like her normal self again.
She strode to school at seven-fifteen, over an hour before the day was due to officially start. Walking through the school at that time felt like a ghost-town with no one but a few teachers around, until she got to their area. There she was, just as promised.
"Hey," Ferrie uttered and stood up to greet her.
"Hey!" Morgan replied as she received a hug.
"How are ya?"
"I'm feeling better."
"Have you thought about the suspect thing anymore?" Ferrie enquired as they took a seat together.
"Not really."
"That's alright. Do you think you can now?" She enquired. "Okay, I've got a couple of questions, then."
"Yes, Officer?" Morgan joked.
"Um, do you think he — he, being Tony, could possibly be capable of something like this?"
"Well, I guess. He is a freak who's into bondage and shit so I wouldn't put it past him."
"Okay, and the other question I have is, and you've got to think really hard about this: but are you sure you haven't seen him at any time after the night you dumped him?" She gazed at her intensely. Morgan thought for longer before answering.
"No... the last time I saw him was just after I kneed him in the balls. He was lying on the ground as I walked off," she stated positively.
"Are you sure? Think, Morg. Anything? Like even his car or maybe a mysterious figure in the shadows at all? I don't know," Ferrie asked determinedly.
"Ooh..." Morgan exclaimed. That sentence triggered a chain of thought. Morgan snapped her fingers searching for the memory in her mind.
"What?"
"Ooh, um... I did! I saw his car once! I think it was his car, I'm not sure. It looked like his car but I never noticed his number plate so I can't really be sure."
"Okay, that's good. Where?" Ferrie pushed. Morgan strained to think, but then remembered.
"The day after the night I dumped him. After school I passed a car that I could have sworn was his on my way home... on my street, even. I couldn't see him anywhere though, and I never told him where I lived so there's that."
"Sweet, that's all I need to know: his vehicle in the wrong part of town and I'm guessing, would been out of his regular schedule," she uttered, beginning her investigation. Morgan's face lit up.
"Fuck, three minutes and you're already working it out!" She remarked happily. Just then the distinct smell of cigarette smoke lingered around them, and Steve suddenly appeared from behind them.
"Working what out?" He queried. The girls just glared at him and Steve turned his attention to Morgan, who had timed her burst of happiness unknowingly well with Steve appearing.
"So... it's been well over a week, ay? How's Jono?" He asked sarcastically.
"He's been bashed and he's in the hospital; not so happily, I'd imagine, you asshole," Morgan exclaimed bluntly. Ferrie smirked at Steve's guilty-looking reaction.
