Aragorn himself felt annoyed by the words wich the king chose, Gandalf skilfully ignored them, but Legolas felt more offended and straightened up. He was ready to defend Aragorn.
„Do you know who you are talking to?"
He said, irritated.
When Legolas was feeling offended, his voice had an small Sindarin accent.
Aragorns body tensed up, he prepared himself to get in a fight if someone noticed.
Aragorn eyed the guards, each of them was armed with a sword and fight position, but it did not look like they wanted to fight, more than they had to.
The king squinted his eyes, stood up and walked towards Legolas.
„Hey, Do not touch him."
Aragorn warned with a calm but tense voice.
„What are you going to do if I will? Fight against all my guards here? I doubt it."
The king hissed before he ran his hand through Legolas fake-beard.
„This hair is known to me, the texture."
Legolas pulled away and stared at the king.
„You creatures think you are so much better than us am I right? You are arrogant."
He continued.
Aragorn felt anger build up in ihm.
„You are the walking proof that they are better than you."
He shot back and took a step closer.
The king wanted to say something, but he was cut off by Gandalf.
„That is enough!"
He shouted in a loud voice.
„You will all calm down now, then we will talk calmly and peaceful with each other."
„You can tell me nothing!"
The king growled. He turned to the guards.
„Take away their weapons."The guards moved towards the four, and Aragorn already knew that Legolas would not give away his dear bow to those people.
„Legolas, look at me"
Aragorn mumbled, drawing the elf's
attention to him.
„Quiet!"
The king shouted, making both Aragorn and Legolas flinch.
The ranger sighed in annoyance, but the elf glared at the king, with more condescension than Aragorn has ever seen on him.
And he not only glared, but spoke with condescension.
„How dare you speak with me like that?"
He spat.
„Cut his head off lad"
Gimli growled with an angry look.
„It would be my pleasure"
Legolas answered, drawing his two daggers.
Now, a fight was saved.
Aragorn sighed in his head and pulled out his sword, imitating Gimli who did the same with his axe. Normally, Aragorn always tried to avoid fights, let alone start them, but it seemed that today, he had to ignore his normal habits for once. Aragorns eyes darted sideways, recognising a sword wich flew towards him. He parried it and jumped aside, swirling around before stabbing the attacker with his own sword.
Meanwhile, Legolas was fighting with the king, who, to be honest, did not have very good fighting skills, but then again, it was compared to an very well trained wood elf, so the conclusion was kind of unfair.
„Legolas! Fight off the others and let Aragorn handle him!"
Gandalf shouted,
who slapped someone with his staff.
Aragorn, who also heard what Gandalf said, rushed to Legolas' side. He quickly stole a look at Legolas, before grabbing the king and pushing him to the ground.
Legolas watched the scene for a second, then continued to fight off the other guards.A bit time has passed, and Legolas and Gimli were blocking the door to prevent other guards from coming in.
„Aragorn, stop. He is dead."
Heard Legolas from Gandalf.
He risked a look and saw Aragorn kneeling on the ground, strangling the king- the dead king.
„Aragorn."
Gandalf said with a dark and loud voice. It was frightening, but it did not pull Aragorn out of whatever trip he was on.
Eventually, Gandalf just grabbed Aragorn and pulled him away from the corpse that was once a king. The ranger received a slap across the face and word that told him to pull himself together.
Legolas almost snapped at Gandalf, wanting to tell him that he was the one to pull himself together, but unfortunately, Gandalf was right and Aragorn really had to keep it together now.„What shall we do now, Gandalf? I just killed the king, my predecessor!"
Aragorn spluttered. His fingers trembled, but the rest of his body was like it was petrified.
His face was pale.
„How can I ever talk to the people of Gondor again? How can I even look at them? I killed their king to be the king myself, I do not-"
„Aragorn, be quiet. You are the rightful heir to the throne. You wanted to insist on your right, but the king declined you. Now you must go, before other guards will see the scene."
Gandalf said clearly, letting his hand rest on Aragorns shoulder.
„What about you?"
Legolas asked, already on Aragorn's side.
„I will stay here and try to talk to them. In three days, you all may return here again and will be welcomed with open arms. Until then, you will have to look for a place to stay where you can cover yourself and deal with your injuries you received from this fight."
Gandalf the white answered.
„Until then."
He added, before shooing the three out of a window.Legolas was the first to act and pulled the other two into an alley, wich had an old looking house at the end of it.
„Let us go there and ask for shelter"
Legolas suggested.
Gimli agreed, and together, they started to pull Aragorn with them.
Halfway there and Aragorn collapsed in Legolas' arms. Blood was sulking through his pants where his calf was. A switchblade was stuck in it.
„Hang in there lad, we'll bring you to the house and everything will be okay"
Gimli said, but Legolas just stared at the ranger.
He knew that Aragorn was strong enough to make it, he knew that he would live and he knew that he would be okay. But for now, Legolas felt his heart ache, why was it not him instead Aragorn? Why couldn't he just-
A voice ripped him out of his thoughts.
It belonged to a young girl.
„Hello? What happened to your friend?"Sorry for the long break, I was really busy
Love you all❤️❤️
