Link's POV

We'd been on the road for a couple of days now. We stopped to rest in Faron Woods the first night, and tonight we're resting in the Kakariko Gorge area, close to the border of the Twilight still sitting in the province. Midna says that after this, we still have the Lanayru province to get to in order to remove all the Twilight from Hyrule. If we don't, it would just spread all over Hyrule and we would have to start again.

The night is quiet, the only sounds coming from the wind gently blowing through the trees and grass, and the birds  heard from the mountainous regions of Death Mountain.  Midna had fallen asleep about an hour ago, right at sunset. I decided not to disturb her, as the night before, she stayed up a long time to keep watch for monsters.

I grab the bag we brought and take out some food.  Uli packed us enough food to last us three to four days on the road, even though it would only take us two nights and a morning to get there.  We planned an early arrival, and Midna said she would make sure to wake me up early.

Chewing my last bite of food, I lay down on the blanket and look up at the sky.  The Twilight in the distance makes the dark night sky look warm, even welcoming because of it's orange and red tones.  I close my eyes and fall asleep quickly, only to seem like just five seconds later, Midna was waking me up.

Morning

"Link! Link, wake up!" I woke abruptly to Midna shaking my shoulder. I opened one eye to see it was still kind of dark, but the sun was starting to rise at the horizon. "Come on, we have to get to Kakariko before noon."

"Okay, I'm up," I state. I feel her hands remove themselves from my shoulder, and then I hear rustling. I turn over to see her packing up the bag we got from Uli, and tying it to the horse. It's probably around six o'clock in the morning, and if we leave now, we'd get to Kakariko in a few hours, definitely before noon, so I don't know why Midna is freaking out about the time.

"We have a lot of time, Midna," I say. She turns around to look at me.

"No we don't. Not with the Twilight still in Hyrule."

I sigh in defeat. "Okay, let's get moving then."

Midna's POV

I didn't really know what to expect again when we passed through the curtain of Twilight. The change looked painful, again, and Link passed out right after, which he did the first time he changed as well. I hope this doesn't happen every time we pass through Twilight, as it could take a toll on his health, especially since he's injured in his human form as well.

Thoughts swarm in my mind of the worst things that could happen at this moment, and even thought I try to stay positive, I can feel my optimism lowering constantly.

I just hope he wakes up soon.

Link's POV

I feel like I'm falling, and all I see around me is darkness. I notice that I'm in my wolf form, and my entire body feels painful. My arms and legs throb and it feels as if my heart is located in my brain.

I hear someone speak from the distance. "Come on Link, you can do it."

I can't escape.

Midna's POV

It's been an hour. A long, gruesome hour, of which all I've done is sit here waiting for Link to wake up. He's cried a few times, and whimpered, probably from a bad dream. I've tried to calm him down every time, and sometimes it helps, but it seems that it's getting worse. It's noon, and although you can't really see the sun through the Twilight, we're right beside the curtain, so some of the light world is still visible. I guess that's what hope is after all, being able to see the light even in the most thick and brutal darkness.
