Zelda's POV

Watching my people die hurts me.  I see the shadows of the residents of Castle Town dissappearing daily.  They don't deserve to die, they don't deserve to be punished just because they didn't go inside before curfew, or were wandering the streets at a bad time and place.  This entire tragedy isn't the peoples fault, it's the fault of the beings that kill the people for nothing.

I've been trapped in this tower for seven days now; I know I won't be free anytime soon.  It feels like it's been ages since the attack, but in reality it's only been just over a week.  It must be the quietness in the atmosphere, and being stuck in a room twenty-four hours a day doesn't help with that either.  The food I receive is very bland; two slices of bread with cheese and water, three times a day.

I hope that Link and Midna find what they need to save Hyrule.  They truly are our only hope at this point.

Link's POV

As I was waking up, I felt really light, and also felt that I was laying flat on my back and my feet were wet.  Opening my eyes, I see Midna floating above me, and behind her a clear blue sky.

"Did we do it? Did we save Hyrule?" I mumble. Midna giggles.

"Not quite, but we are one step closer to saving Hyrule I guess." She replies.  She moves and a sharp, bright beam of light from the sun hits my eyes. Or I thought it was the sun.  I sit up and lean on my left elbow, taking my right hand to cover my eyes.  It was the Spirit, glowing above the rocks of the Spring.

"Hero of Light . . . Stand up . . ." It says.  I do as it says and get up, cautiously not to move anything I may have injured.  I get up without a trouble, and look towards the Spirit now that my eyes have adjusted. "Look at yourself . . ." I look down and see that I'm human again, but I'm wearing different clothes.  I now had on a green tunic over some metal armor, and a brown suit covering my arms and legs.  I look over my shoulder and see my sword and shield resting there on my back.  I pat the top of my head, and feel some sort of hat, with a long end, thinning as it goes down; also green.

"You look okay, though I'd say a blue would look better." Says Midna.  I give her a brief glimpse, then turn back to the spirit.

"The darkness you defeated . . . is still present in other areas of Hyrule." The light Spirit changes it's shape and creates an object in it's hand.  The object is white and bent at an angle; it has decorations at the tips, and the centre painted gold.  The object floats out to me and I grab it into my hand.  Now that I can see it, I identify it as a boomerang. "You must head . . . to the Forest Temple . . . something awaits for you there . . ."  Before I could ask anything, the Spirit started to dissappear, it's light fading with it.

"Wait! How am I supposed to get there? And what do I do with this!?" I yell to it, hoping it will hear me.  There is no response as the light fades completely, and the rocks stop glowing, the only sound being the light ripple from the water.

"We'll figure everything out Link, don't worry." Says Midna. She reassures me with a grin, and dissappears back into my shadow. "I'll help guide you, I just need to stay in your shadow so that my power doesn't drain. Start by heading the same way you did when you were chasing the Beast."

I take my sword out of it's sheath and look at the glistening metal.  I am reminded of Rusl, who was like an older brother to me.  I look at the shield next and remember the entire village.  I go through my memory at how much the people have changed from the time I left.  I remember Ilia, and how we promised to be best friends forever; I broke that promise, letting her down.  I don't think I would even be able to see her without feeling like the guiltiest person alive.
