(inspired by the game The Last Of Us)
you're not cool if you never
played it, just saying..THE SUN RISES WERE SLOWLY reaching her face that was crashed against a pillow. The room was immersed in a still dark orangish atmosphere of a sunrise, making her groan as she curses herself about forgetting to close the window last night.
She emerged, sitting on her spot on the bed, stretching for a moment. The silence was so peaceful. Y/n turned her head to the side, observing through the dirty open window. Outside was quiet, empty and full at the same time. Everything had collapsed and nature was taking back its rights, it was terrifying but also so magnificent.
Y/n was born during the apocalypse, she only knew that. The infected. The looters. The Fedra and the Fireflies and their damn war that can't find any peace after years. But the two weren't a problem anymore for Y/n and the others with her.
They were far away from that living system now, it is just the past.Everyone has their own lives. Starting with Ellie who found the love with Dina, finally. Y/n and Ellie grew up together in the Fedra's school. As you know the story, Ellie got bitten by an infected and obviously she was kind of immune, the Fireflies caught her and Y/n escaped the school to find her friend but fall on another person she wished at the moment she never met.
Joel Miller. If only he knew he would have to survive this apocalypse with the two girls, spending their time by annoying him and being the unconscious incarnation they were. Joel couldn't bear them but turns out, five years later, they were the two persons he loved the most on this dead world.
Joel missed the two little girls, now they were both around eighteen but he couldn't describe how much he was proud of what they became. Ellie was happy,
Y/n was happy. What could he ask more?A few months ago, they found an abandoned farm. Of course they had to clean up, including killing the infected who were still there. Now it was their place.
A few weeks ago, they fell on a boy, holding a woman older than him against his chest, the tightest he could, crying his eyes out. Y/n never knew who was between his arms but she figured out it should be his mother and perhaps his last family member.
That day, this boy had to let the last part of him leaves, letting go was the hardest.
After this, he never talked about this woman to anyone. Y/n remembered she had one of her arms cut off her body that was also very damaged. You could think the boy would be sad, quiet and doesn't talk that much after this event, but the problem was that it was the total invert. He was the worst. Now Y/n understood what Joel had to live when he had to watch her and Ellie.
"Ugh why even doing this again? We have enough food for the next two weeks!" He keeps arguing while Joel and Y/n rolled their eyes without any words for the past hour, containing themselves. "Joel I swear, the next bullet wouldn't be for a deer but directly for his stupid head." She whispered, annoyed, to the man by her side, shaking her rifle in front of her, showing her possible future actions. "I won't hold you back." He shrugged, a grin apparent.
"Can I get a fucking answer?" His boring tone reappeared from behind them. "We need to be prudent so we hunt for our stocks and to verify the perimeter.." Joel explained like it was the thousandth time he does. "We did it yesterday!" He continued. "Finn." Y/n called harshly, stopping herself in her steps, Joel followed her moves and turns to the teenagers, pulling his gun down by security.
