Everyone grabs their seatbelts and burns their hands. "Ow!" shouts Lucy, jerking her hand back. "I know!" said Ava, shaking her hand in the air trying to cool it off. Rachel presses the button to turn on the car and grabs the steering wheel. "Ah!" shouts Rachel, as she takes her hands off the wheel. Ava turns the car's air to max so it will cool down. They wait for five minutes for the car to cool off to start driving again.
Back on the long drive, there was nothing to do but look at the sky, talk, or sleep. Sleep was the only thing everyone wanted to do. Eventually, Ava, Lucy, and Izzy fall asleep as Rachel tries her best to keep her eyes open.
Ava walks through the dusty air, coughing and gasping for air. She couldn't see a thing in front of her, it was just a huge cloud of dust. She walks farther and farther through the dust before tripping on something. Ava stumbles to the ground and gets covered in the dust. She turns around and looks at the thing she tripped over to see it was her father. She stares at his pale, dry face just like when she saw his dead face before. It was exactly the same as before. "Ah!" Ava screams in fear.
Ava wakes up scared from her dream with her scream echoing in her ears. Ava tries to catch her breath as she holds back tears. "Are you alright, Ava?" Rachel asks, looking at Ava, concerned. "Huh? Oh, yeah. Fine! I'm fine!" Ava stutters. "Okay..." Rachel says, knowing that her sister isn't okay. "Do you wanna talk about it?" Rachel asks. Ava shakes her head 'no'. "Okay, if you change your mind I'm always here." Rachel says, starting to focus on the road again.
There was sunlight coming up in front of them, but you couldn't see the sun yet. Ava looks back at Lucy and Izzy, still asleep, both leaning against the car doors. Ava sighs and looks at Rachel. She looked exhausted. "Do you want me to drive later?" asked Ava as she looked at the cupholders with coffee cups in them. "No, you're a kid! You can't drive yet, Ava!" said Rachel as she pulled into a store named "супермаркет"
which means "The Supermarket" in English. It was a plain name, but it was what it was. Ava knew the store had a lot there. There is furniture, blankets, food, clothes, and more. Basically, it had everything you could think of.
Rachel parks the car as the sun barely peaks into the sky. Lucy and Izzy wake up from the car stopping. "Where are we?" asked Izzy, squinting.
"We're at a store." said Rachel, turning off the car. Everyone gets out of the car and goes inside. It is a huge store, it's like it goes on forever every way you look. "Wow!" said Ava in amazement. "I know, right?" Izzy says. Everyone goes their separate ways after staring at the market for a few seconds. Ava goes to the clothes area, Izzy and Lucy go to the food area for breakfast, and Rachel goes to the couch area to sleep.
An hour later Izzy, Lucy, and Ava get bored. Rachel is still asleep, so everyone else finds each other and looks for things to do. They find a basket that has colorful rubber bouncy balls that kids like to play with.
They choose a red ball and toss it back and forth for about thirty minutes. Then, they get bored again, so they decide to climb the shelves. Ava gets to the top of a shelf that has sports supplies on it, Izzy sits on top of the shoes shelf, and Lucy sits on the costume shelf. Ava still has the red ball and they toss on top of the shelves to each other. They play toss for an hour until Izzy accidently drops the ball. They all laughed about it, but no one wanted to go and get it. They were kind of mad at Izzy, but there were worse things happening so they didn't really care. They all climb down the shelves and get shopping carts. They find a long hallway and race by running and jumping on the carts to see who goes the fastest to the other side. "Ready, set, go!" shouted Lucy, ready for competition. Everyone ran while pushing their cart, they all jumped on while the carts were still rolling across the floor. Lucy won the race, but they did it over and over with different winners every round.
Two hours later, Ava starts looking around to see what they have in the medical area just in case someone gets hurt on the way. Ava grabs bandages, rubbing alcohol, a needle and thread, and a few hand towels. She puts them in her brown bag so she doesn't have to carry them.
The sun goes down and Rachel wakes up. They all leave the store and go to the car. Rachel starts driving again. "You've been driving a lot, Rachel. Do you want one of us to drive for a change?" asked Lucy, feeling bad about not saying anything before. "No, I don't trust other people driving my car." said Rachel, not wanting anyone to crash the car. "It's true, Rachel didn't even want our parents to drive it." said Ava, looking at the sky. "Oh, wow." said Lucy, surprised to hear what Ava said. Ava continues to look at the sky as she gets tired. The sky is full of dark clouds. It looks like it could start pouring at any moment. Soon enough, it did. Rain fell from the sky and onto the car and dry land. It didn't flood the land like last time though which was good for them.
Ava lays her head against the seat while looking out the window. She always thought rain was calming, especially at night. The sound of the water droplets hitting the car was soothing. It put Ava to sleep easily.
